First time visiting this lovely city, made reservations for this 5 star restaurant, and it did not disappoint! We were a party of two and did the surprise tasting menu which consisted of 5 dishes I believe. The main meat dish was venison, and it was so flavourful, so tender, it melted in my mouth, the sauce that was with it paired so perfectly. Every dish was fantastic and so was the presentation. Loved the atmosphere of the restaurant, the seating, the decor, the ambiance was perfect. Will definitely eat here again in the future.
We were walking down the street, undecided which to eat. A senior couple walk over and said, eat here, its the best restaurant and inside is beautiful. We went in after them. The staffs are extremely friendly toward us even we look Asian. The wonderful part of the experience is that they will tell you where the food came from and describe each dish before we eat. Each dish’s portion was perfect and dedicated. The food were flavourful and each combination match within its own dish. This is indeed one of the best restaurant I have ever been to. Definitely will visit the restaurant again for my next visit to Quebec City.
My wife and I spent a lovely dinner at Chez Rioux & Pettigrew. It is by far the most upscale restaurant we have probably eaten at in terms of quality of ingredients, artistic presentation, and service quality. We had their standard prix fixe menu, with an order of oysters. The bartender really sold us on the oysters and I love oysters. They were not the best I have ever had, they were good, but the downside was that they prepared a savoury whipped cream with the oysters and didn't really give us the chance to taste the oyster on its own. Every course we had, was just a spectacle of detail and art. Personally for me, I just enjoy good tasting food whereas my wife loves the artistic appeal done in cuisine. It has that michelin star like quality and ambience. I cannot describe every dish at the level they had mentioned. But I will try to conceptually lay it out. And I am certain this is a seasonal menu, so can't guarantee you would get something like this again. 1. Smoked Sturgeon with micro greens, 2. Deconstructed French Onion Soup, 3. Striploin, jus, and vegetables, 4. Apple themed dessert. Every dish was tasty, the first dish started strong with a smoked sturgeon, cooked perfectly, not overly salty and an elegant presentation. I wasn't a huge fan of the deconstructed French Onion Soup but it was delicious, a good palate cleanser for the next course. The steak was a special breed of cow in QC, the cut was striploin I believe and the vegetables were cooked to perfection. All the flavours worked really well together, a great balance, and the sauces were on point. The dessert was the probably the greatest course. Everything was apple themed, the ice cream was apple flavour and it was amazing. The dacquoise looking think had amazing balance of sweetness with the ice cream and it didn't feel tart at all. There was apple cider vinegar jelly and it was interesting, but added a nice acidity to the overall dish. Overall, it was a wonderfully crafted menu, with a good balance of flavour in every bite, super artistic, and like any artsy piece, you eat it based on your interpretation. The ambience of the restaurant was cozy, we sat at the bar which was constructed out of drawers. Very classy, not too upscale interior, but you can really feel the class. Staff went above and beyond, it was truly an experience to take in. We enjoyed it very much.
First of all, I have to say that I was pleasantly surprised by this restaurant. The first thing that I liked was the look and feel as we walked in. It has a lot of charm and warmth to it. We were escorted through the kitchen to another section of the restaurant that we didn’t know was there. The decor and vibe was unique. We went on New Year’s Day so the menu was set. When they first brought it, I have to admit that it seemed like a small quantity. However, I told myself not to judge until we were done. I was right to do so. The overall portion was just perfect. I’m terms of quality, freshness and flavor, I was quite impressed. Everything was delicious. I can tell that they very carefully crafted each item to have the best combination of complimentary flavors. Every single items had its own “wow” factor. Honestly, I would definitely classify our visit as an experience just as much as a great breakfast. Going through each item was a discovery of flavors. I would highly recommend it to someone looking for something new. Side note: I laughed when I saw the portion of eggs that they brought, but… wow, those were the best scrambled eggs I’ve ever had. With respect to everything, it was an appropriate portion. A shout out to our waitress Emilie Perez I’m not sure about the last name. Excellent service!!!
If I could give this place six stars I would. I’m actually shocked that this place does not have a Michelin star. Everything was tremendous. Wine pairings were amazing, cocktails even better. Ambience is great, everyone is very friendly and before your meal they actually tell you all about your food and where it comes from and what’s in it. Worth the journey if you’re ever in Quebec city this is the place to go.
Ordered tasting menu with the wine pairing. The portions were not large but the food was decadent and delicious. A wonderful combination of flavors that I was not disappointed . Expensive meal but I enjoyed my experience. Would recommend you treat yourself.
Lovely dinner, super cute interior, top notch service! We arrived about 20 min early and our table was not ready so we sat at some mismatched couches by the entrance until exactly 9pm. There seems to be multiple dining areas and I was delighted when the hostess walked us through the kitchen to a wonderful group of folks working, who all bid us a bon soir to a room on the back. The homey, comfortable feel of the room was accented by mismatched chairs and tables, glasses and silverware, and soft lighting. We had the Xmas preset menu $95CAD and did not opt for the additional bubbly and oyster or wine accompaniments. The food itself was very playful and delicious in surprising ways! My favorite was the mussels covered in a snow of cheese, but the scallops and leeks dish and the guinea fowl dish were definitely up there. The dessert plate was also light and lovely, not too sweet. It was worth a splurge to celebrate our visit, and I would recommend it to others visiting, but be aware that our reservation started at 9pm and we were there for about 3 hours.
I chose the chef’s selection of 5 courses - a small entree, 3 salty dishes, sweet dessert - with the 4 wine pairings. Incredible, outstanding, the unusual and creative combination of ingredients perfectly divine. Works of art for the palate and the eye. I would give 10 stars. I’m only sad that the photo of the entree didn’t come out. Exceptional service seated at the bar, too.
An elevated way to end off my evening. Came to this place wanting oysters originally, but was dazzled by the cocktails and also the bartender and his knowledge in creating drinks as if painting on a canvas. A nice selection of background music, paired with the ambient lighting. A must-go-to spot to for good drinks, good oysters, and a good night.
It is a five star experience across the board. The second you walk down the hall before crossing the door, you get that feeling of walking into a parallel world of joy. The lightning is bright enough yet comfortable, then the host walked us through the kitchen, where we were welcomed by the team, before reaching our table in the second room. We took the discovery experience, the food and its presentation was as good as it gets, the wine pairing was very well done and accompanied by just the right amount of explanation. This is a discovery for me and I will definitely return.
