VAS helps pair low-income people with civil legal problems in Chelan and Douglas Counties with volunteer attorneys from our local Chelan-Douglas Bar. Our volunteers provide our clients with high quality, pro bono legal services.
Chelan and Douglas counties have some of the highest poverty levels in Washington. VAS achieves justice in this community by helping low-income people with civil legal problems through high quality, pro bono legal services. We accomplish this mission by enlisting the help of volunteer attorneys from our local Chelan-Douglas Bar. Volunteer attorneys assist clients from Chelan and Douglas counties who meet financial eligibility standards and who have been screened and interviewed on discreet civil legal issues. A client’s household income and resources must be at or below 200 percent of the federal poverty level to be eligible for VAS services.
VAS is successful in providing access to justice for people in need in our local community only with your support. Each year, VAS helps hundreds of families and individuals get legal assistance when they need it most.
From 2011 to 2012 alone, VAS attended to nearly 900 clients with legal problems in the areas of consumer, family, housing, estate planning, and employment law, among others.
