Chef Big D's

Note that you have to seat yourself - this is not a complaint in any way, but a type for others - don't wait for someone to come say hi. Food was barely average. I had the standard omelette. Best thing on my plate was the toast made with fresh bread - that was absolutely fantastic. Serving staff were far below average. The server did not even try to be personable - it honestly felt like I was interrupting her day by sitting, eating at the restaurant and giving her a tip for her far below average service. I may come back, but only to go buy bread and then leave.

Very well located, with some nice seating. Good food selection (I would recommend their omelettes), and decent coffee. Friendly servers as well. Oh and their banana bread is great!

Exactly what we were looking for. The burger was outstanding (ask for double bacon ). Next time i will get the crab cakes with the perfectly cooked poached eggs on the side. Great service.

The service alone was already lethal - the blonde lady who took my order was so unfriendly and rude. She expected me not to ask any question but just order and go. As this was the first time I was here, I was asking if I should collect the food myself or they will send it to where I was seating. She replied with impatient face: just give us 15-20 mins. Didn't answer my question. I wish I had a better experience because it looks like a nice place to have breakfast. That's a shame.

Four of us got food poising at Big Ds. Led to quite an unconformable ride back to Vancouver. Cute place, but not sure if the eggs were properly handled. I would avoid over easy and go scrambled...
