Charter Fitness of North Hobart

It is nearly impossible to cancel this membership. I called the 1-800 number to cancel and they told me I could only cancel automatic payments. This meant I would still get a bill AND charter fitness could send this to collections because I didn’t “officially” cancel my membership. To cancel your membership you have to send a letter via certified mail??? Even when I did this, my charter fitness location apparently never received it and kept charging my account.

It's okay now because of all the business they lost from planet fitness. However a lot to the machines are trashed the guys urinal is always covered in piss and in discharge of some sort. So I'm not sure they clean well. A lot of the equipment isn't maintained. The store manager just says hello what's up and he needs to brush his teeth cause damn. As for the other managers, the one early in the morning is nice she also always saya hello and have a nice day. The Asian girl with blue hair I'm not sure if she's there anymore, but she does her job of enforcing rules also she does let me know when my payment was over due. The other ones very. There's this really skinny and tiny one who drives a blue Ford. She's never there I usually see her out back smoking a ciggy but it's whatever I mean when you work at a job that doesn't require that much effort I probably would too. There's another one there who I'm assuming is the youngest one there she's also the attractive one, but she never interacts with customers never says hi or bye, and she can never be found she's usually in the back room where they wash the towels doing something god knows what. As for the regular workers the only that's sticks out as excelling is the one girl with red in her hair (not ginger) and a think a gap in her teeth, well she's usually nice and greets the people that go there so a+ for her. I'm as for others I think the other one I notice is the kid who needs a hair cut wears glasses and has man chichis he doesn't really do anything but stand there. Either than that it's usually quiet now cause no one goes there now.

Charter Fitness went from a decent local gym to a total scam. They closed their Hobart location without sending any emails or any text messages to their members. They then transferred the contracts to a further location from my home without informing me but continued to charge my wife's card. She has been on maternity leave so was not able to attend in person to see the gym closed. When I called to ask if we could be reimbursed for the fees from when the gym closed... they said she has to attend in person to this further location to cancel the account and will then be charged one last month, for canceling. I thought when you close the gym at the location I signed up for, that really you canceled the contract. Great customer service, if you like being taken advantage of.

I love this gym. It's nothing fancy, but it has everything I need. AND can't beat $10 a month. The manager, Adam, is really friendly and helpful. The staff is always nice. The only downside is the place could use a little updating. Some of the cardio machines have seen better days, and the toilets in the ladies restroom are awful. The seats are all chipped up and the door doesn't latch in one stall. Other than that, I just wish they were open a little later.

Been going for a few years. An ok place. Good price. Some of the staff is brackish and klickish and should be more focused on all members not just the ones they know. Always too cold there.
