I would have loved to give 5 stars, as they saved the most precious and beautiful thing I have in life, but I firmly believe they deserve 5 stars for everything as a whole and not just for the expected outcome.nI waited about a month for Nico to be completely out of danger and to be able to explain what I had not understood about what took place, and now I share it:nNico came in for a urethral obstruction and in the first instance he was seen by Dra. Pearl Chan, whom I never trusted, and so it was from the moment she explained that they had to stay with him for follow-up in an untimely and impertinent manner, charging us in a desperate manner before explaining why she had to stay, so that my husband and I could do the math, as we are new to the country and had many more expenses to cover.nUnfortunately, we could not leave him and only unclogged his urethra, warning us that, if he did not stay that way, it could happen again. With all the pain in our hearts, after unclogging it, we returned home. The doctor only gave us a minimal dose treatment for five days, which I personally felt was not enough. In addition, she did not prescribe any antibiotics, which seemed strange to me, since Nico had undergone an operation and it was normal.nThe next day we returned, but this time we were seen by Dra. Meagan Burtynsky, for her I would have rated the clinic five stars along with the assistants, who are very nice and gentle. She very empathetically and patiently explained to us what would be done again with Nico and the possible risks of taking him home. She recommended us to have him tested in case we did not leave him, but with this second intervention we could not afford to pay for the overnight stay or the tests. Knowing that we couldn't pay for a whole night at the clinic, she assured us that she would do everything possible to make sure that Nico would be fine. And so it was, this time she gave us more treatment and antibiotics. Truly, in such hard times away from your country and home and in these circumstances, what one needs is empathy.nNico was very healthy and happy, but after seven days he started with cistitis. When I consulted the vets in Mexico, they told me that there was no longer a blockage and that if he went to the bathroom, it was only cistitis. However, i consulted other veterinarians here in Toronto and they all sent me back to the emergency room. So we went back a third time, hoping to see Dra. Meagan again, but I was very disappointed to see Dra. Chan again, as I did not feel emotionally strong enough to go back to see how she treated Nico and me.nThe consultation was very uncomfortable, she advised me euthanasia as the first option and she reaffirmed it to me in her medical prescription, told me to make a decision soon because she did not have time for these things and almost denied the option of testing him if it was not leaving Nico overnight. This time I asked her for more doses of medication to which she supposedly agreed, but in the end she prescribed the same dose.nI do not doubt of her knowledge as a veterinary doctor, but I do doubt her ability to have human and especially animal empathy.
I would give CTVRC 10 stars. My bestie Aspen was recently diagnosed with cancer. After being offered little hope at the other area emergency vet clinic, we received such wonderful care with Dr Bernstein. She is extremely knowledgeable and well informed and so incredibly kind. She took a lot of time to explain our options and offered me some peace of mind. I had follow up questions between two treatment options and Dr Bernstein provided me with a very detailed evidence based answer. The front desk team is amazingly responsive.
This is my dog Daphanie 2 months after surgery at Central Toronto Vet. Dr. Kry and staff removed a benine splenic mass that weighed an astonishing 15lbs! The picture of her on the wooden platform was presurgery with the mass. I'm so happy for her and so happy with Central Toronto Vet.nThank you all for your expertise, professionalism and caring!!nJoe Pesce
Everyone from reception, techs and the vet was great! We called about an emergency with my dogs eye that we didnt feel like we could wait for our regular vet. All other emergency vets in the city were at capacity. Reception was great and advised us to register online and we got a text around 2 hours later to come in and be triaged which is amazing for a non-emergent issue at an emergency vet. He was seen pretty quickly after triage and an eye stain and some meds later, he was good as new. As an emergency vet we expected the cost to be higher than our regular vet visits but the price was very reasonable and a general estimate was always provided again, it is an emergency vet, keeping it open, stocked and staffed is not cheap! We followed up 5 days later with our regular vet and he's back to his normal, crazy self.
We visited the clinic last summer when our cat underwent dental surgery.nI am very grateful to the team for their kindness and responsiveness.nThey explained everything in detail, stayed in touch, and answered all our questions.nEven after the surgery, we contacted the clinic with follow-up questions, and they always helped us and stayed in touch.nBased on my experience, I highly recommend the doctors and the clinic.
