Love the tour staff was great. The architecture of the building is worth going to see alone the museum is a wonderful bonus.
Needs new displays. Could have done a lot with the house instead of united way, ARC. the liqueur industry. Nothing pulled us in.Wait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNo
There was no AC in this building on a very hot day. Wearing masks made this experience brutal. I support masks, it was just so hot in this old building. We were also very confused with the exhibits. There seemed to be no order with how the museum was set up. One section we were checking out the early Physicians in NY then going to the Space Challenger mission then to the historical Auburn prison system. Very odd set up. There was a lot of great information and amazing artifacts.
This museum was great! You can tell that the staff really cares about the history and making this museum a popular destination. The curator that have us a tour of the Case laboratory was charming and enthusiastic, you can tell he loves educating people and conveying the rich history of Auburn. A few of the rooms were a little eclectic at the moment, the planned exhibit had to be changed due to COVID restrictions, it was supposed to be very hands on. This is a must see if you're a history buff! Do not miss the guided tour of the Case laboratory or the second floor discussing the prison. They stayed open late for us to look at the second floor - the staff was amazing and did not rush us at all!
Rare ginkgo tree right outside. Absolutely beautiful!
I went on the tour here with my wife, two friends, and their children. It was excellent, the guide gave an intelligent overview, answered questions including a doozy about the composition the Case Lightbulb's filament, involved the children and all of us with hands on activities, and, best of all, allowed my nerdy self to move close enough to see the title of the books on Case's bookshelf in the workshop. I am an amateur scholar as well as a school teacher and I deeply appreciated the opportunity. The museum in the Case Mansion itself is fun, beautiful, and reasonably interactive-high praise for a history museum. The lady working at the mansion welcome desk was extremely friendly. Only love and a passion for the subject matter could make such a good experience.
Great little facility for a band or show. They offer drinks and it's great to support local business and keep the history of Auburn alive. My only comment is that some shows like those where the performers may be on the floor and such if you are sitting further than the first couple rows you won't be able to see due to how it is set up. If the stage were set a little higher it would be perfect.
There are so many interesting things to see at the Cayuga Museum and Case Research Lab. It's the site where sound on film was invented -- literally a world-changing invention. It's the former home of a prominent doctor and philanthropist, whose family is responsible for the Auburn Theological Seminary and the Willard Chapel. It's home to the state's oldest Ginkgo tree. The permanent exhibit about the Auburn prison boasts many interesting artifacts. And the Carriage House Theater boasts wonderful performances from regional artists. I highly recommend a visit, and please consider a membership!
Great local Museum full of fun facts. Some permanent displays along with an ever changing display that keeps it fresh. There is often neat events including first Friday of every month that includes free admission and refreshments. The carriage house is a very cool extension that hosts more events and can be rented out for private events for very modest fee.
I love this place for many reason. I loved that my family was able to be apart of the Families from Italy focus. They are also amazing with the community and children . Right in The main road. Easy parking and an interesting stop!
