I brought my mom here for lunch today. ABSOLUTELY THRILLED! Our soups were hand made and devine! Our salads were very fresh and had a delightful citrus dressing which was perfect in the summer heat. Prices were very reasonable. We will DEFINATELY be back, and will bring family! Both of us have fallen in love with Cassis Bistro!! Thank you for such a refreshing and delightful place to eat!! FIVE STARS!! Adding to the above eeview, four weeks later. We came back for lunch , and again were delighted! Our quiches were freshly made just for us, and the citrus/ginger dressing is so so good! The French onion soup was eaten before we thought to take a pic, but it's my new favourite from anywhere!! This is a jewel of a place when visiting Lakefield!!
Recommend by friends on the way to their cottage, stopped for lunch, enjoy the house salad with chicken and the quiche with house salad. Definitely will stop in again.
What a great lunch! In Covid, we have taken to driving out of town from Toronto, simply to find a wonderful spot to lunch! We found Cassis today, and we were with our dog. Their back patio is enclosed, so no dog, but they brought a table out front for us! AMAZING food and great wine choices. It's worth the drive!

I'm a vegetarian so my choices were limited but I enjoyed the 2 appetizers I ordered it's sometimes the only area on the menu where you'll find vegetarian options. The terrace is small but it has a nice atmosphere, the background music is relaxing, loud enough without being overpowering. I recommend this little Bistro if you're on a first date or any other time really and want to eat a more sophisticated meal than the average restaurant .
I was not prepared for how good this was. Each of the vegetable sides were immaculate, the steak was perfectly cooked, and the dessert, a lemon tart, was perfect. The portions were spot-on. We left contented but not filled to the brim. I have not found a better restaurant in the Peterborough area. Some criticism is always needed, though, and we felt the free bread was a bit underwhelming. Even if they had just been heated, the magic would have been wall-to-wall. Will come back for as long as they are open.
Incredible experience each time, deliciously executed food and service with personality! Catered especially to my daughter, serving an impromptu kid-friendly appetizer and simple pasta main...just to her liking. Very smart, allowing the adults to enjoy their meals. Wonderful fish/seafood specials tonight, and all the classics. So glad we indulged in the lemon tart for dessert. Can't wait to return!
Service was great. Wine, coffee and desserts were great. 2 of us had the filet mignon - very dry and tasteless. The haddock special was very good. The seafood bake was overpriced for what you got. Also we noticed the restaurant was at full capacity even though restrictions are in place. Like to support local but won't be back.
Stopped in for lunch on the way to the cottage. We had a lovely lunch on the patio, with amazing, very fresh food and excellent service. They very kindly left a bottle of citrus water on the table so we could refill our glasses. The staff take Covid protocol very seriously, and we felt extremely safe. The food was excellent - we all enjoyed our lunch immensely. Thanks for a high quality, friendly stop on the way to the cottage. It is a huge step up from our usual fast food stop! We will definitely be back again!
