Absolutely stunning from start to finish. We started at the bottom of the gorge on Courtland street and made our way all the way to the top where the trail ends at Cornell. Beautiful, serene, calming, this is such a gem and so close to downtown Ithaca. Definitely don’t skip on this one, the uphill step climb can be a bit challenging but it’s definitely worth the effort.
What a wonderful trail! Found it randomly while exploring Ithaca and I was pleasantly surprised. It’s near a neighborhood. So relaxing and wonderful to see plenty of waterfalls! I didn’t go the whole way but from what I saw, it is a little steep as you keep going with a lot of stairs. I’d wear supportive shoes. It’s a place to check out if you need a break from downtown Ithaca.
This was an awesome spot. Highly recommended! There is no parking lot from what I saw so we parked on a residential street and walked the gorge. Wasn't to crowded on an August morning. Definitely worth the hike!
As a Floridian, its hard to wrap my head around how this gorge goes through the town and the college campus. It was a very beautiful trail that had wonderful sights. I felt very relax although my used-to-being-at-sea-level self struggled on the stairs back up from the gorge. This trail did not disappoint! There are many areas where you can choose to stop and recharge.
This is a beautiful walk that connects the Cornell campus to neighborhoods and downtown below it. At a leisurely pace, this 1/3-mile section of the trail takes less than an hour from the Treman Triangle Park in downtown to the upper entrance by the College Avenue Stone Arch Bridge. Glen Trail as it is sometimes called follows alongside the Cascadilla Creek as it drops 400 ft, carving into the shale and limestone. Well maintained stone walkways and stairs give a delightful view of this secluded gorge and its 6 distinct falls. It should not be missed! Similar geology in the Ithaca area can be found at Buttermilk Gorge Trail, even at Watkins Glen Gorge Tr.
