Came on a taco tuesday. Quesabirria was pretty good but relied too much on the broth. The meat was a bit dry on the regular tacos. Great atmosphere and service. Might be worth checking out their Friday night Mariachi band. Parking: Parking is limited and not well marked. Kid-friendliness: Family friendly.
Super delicious place to get some Mexican food. We came on a Tuesday and while they were busy, they still had space to fit our family of 6. We ordered their chicken enchiladas with green Verde sauce, cheese quesadillas plain cheese for the kids, 3 assorted tacos, and for dessert churros. Everything was super fresh, simple and delicious and best of all it came so quickly that we were in and out in under an hour great for our tired kids!. The standout for me was the enchiladas which I ordered without radish and tomatoes. Kid-friendliness: They were happy to have us there with 4 kids and when the kids were having a hard time, they brought over some crayons and paper. They also had a high chair for us to use and the general noise of the space made us feel welcome.
This place is overpriced, the price for one taco is too high and some tacos are small and dry. I will not return for this reason. On the positive, the food has lots of flavour and the atmosphere is great. Service is very slow and could also be improved. Can you believe pictures below is over 50 dollars that’s crazy to meFood: 4/5
Tortilla soup, nachos, taco bowl, churro. Soup lacked flavour and was quite watery. Nachos were delicious and would be enough for a main course. Taco bowl was quite dry, even after adding salsa. Flavours were good, though. Churros were delicious. Overall a bit expensive in my opinion.Food: 4/5
Tried 4 tacos for dinner, left to right: 1 - Birria: I guess I was expecting like, the full Birria as I've seen elsewhere, where the tortilla is dipped in the consomme and then cooked. The beef was delicious, very juicy and flavorful. 2 - Al Pastor: Other places I've had Al Pastor, the pork has had some char on it and had a lot more flavour. It was well spiced, but lacking that char I was hoping for, and I found the pork fairly dry. Somewhat disappointing. 3 - Chorizo: These were pretty good, my second favorite after the Birria. The chorizo was well crisped, there was the right amount of cheese on it, and the flavor was good. 4 - Beef Tongue: I've had beef tongue before and this one had a different flavor I couldn't put my finger on, but it wasn't something I expected or particularly could appreciate, and it didn't taste like the seasoning used. A few pieces were also quite overcooked and tough, which isn't what I'm used to with beef tongue either. The salsa verde was also very watery and made the chorizo next to it somewhat soggy. Overall, my least favorite. So overall, the tacos were largely fine, nothing special, the price was about average. The atmosphere was nice, the service was fairly good though they never refilled the water. All around, based on the high reviews for this place I'm somewhat disappointed. It wasn't bad, it just wasn't as good as I was expecting. Dietary restrictions: They labeled NUTS very clearly on the menu, and also were sure to label all the dishes that were gluten free. Parking: Plenty of parking behind the restaurant.
Really cute and homey place. I had two vegetarian tacos veggies and deep fried avocado and soup. It was really good! I never saw avocado pieces in soup before and it was great : the staff were friendly as well. If you don't eat spicy food, make sure to tell them in advance! I made that mistake when I thought not spicy sauce meant not spicy to Mexicans, but overall great experience, would go back when I visit Ottawa again :
We really loved the ambiance here. The interior decoration was very eclectic with Spanish music playing. The menu also seemed very authentic in terms of what was available. The taco bowl was massive and very tasty. Tacos de Arrachera was so flavourful. Only let down was the chicken quesadillas which was a bit bland compared to the rest of the food we had. That was probably just a bad choice we made. Definitely recommended! Ps: They even have a Mariachi band playing on Friday nights so if a dinner with entertainment is your thing then book ahead. Parking: It's easy to miss the parking lot of the restaurant which is at the back and accessible by the side of the restaurant. However there are parkings available in front of the adjacent stores.
Had a great time here for my birthday on a Friday with Mariachi! Food was great, the staff were very hospitable. I highly recommend the enchiladas and the Elote! It's definitely a quality restaurant that I would return to! If you want to see Mariachi then I would suggest you make a reservation because it gets busy. We did read other reviews and I have some comments for my Canadian brethern. Firstly, the crumbled white cheese is Cotija cheese which is very tasty and a little salty. It looks like Feta but it's not... Secondly, "Canadian Nacho's" would use cheddar but this is not a Tex-Mex place like Lone Star want cheddar? Go there!, They are an authentic Mexican restaurant. The staff are very polite and hospitable, like in Mexico or South America... They will not harass you or push something their culture considers that rude, they like to give you your space. Vegetarian options: Many of the entrees and appetizers have Vegetarian options. Kid-friendliness: Definitely a fun and kid friendly place!
Great service.Drinks are good. But the food is just okay and didn’t have much flavour. The portions are not big either. Their churros are pretty decent and tasty.Food: 3/5
Amazing spot! Truly traditional Mexican cuisine! The atmosphere, cuisine, service, chef's, drinks especially the margaritas are amazing. And the portion of the nachos Not to mention on Friday there's mariachi bands that play. Overall fav dine in Mexican cuisine. Parking: Google maps tells you just how to get there, it was packed and plenty of parking. Kid-friendliness: There were kids there and it felt like a family environment! Very friendly
