Caring for Women

I arrived today for a scheduled meet and greet with one of the midwives. I spoke to three people prior to the appointment and was assured I could meet with her prior to making the decision to switch to their care. When I arrived, I was told that they would not keep my appointment unless I was willing to pay for an office visit, even though I was not scheduled for one and would not be having one. I would never agree to pay hundreds of dollars to meet someone and ask them questions about what they do and do not support, their experience, and their practice, and it is completely ridiculous of them to expect such. Additionally, if this is their policy, they need to be clear and up front that they do not do meet and greets, and will only meet potential patients if they are willing to pay for an office visit that they will not receive. Canceling on a pregnant woman after she arrives with three small children is reprehensible.
