Absolutely outstanding staff and medical team. My dog was on the verge of death, she was suffering from severe Gastroenteritis. This is the second time I’ve taken my dog here and they treated her with excellent care and diagnosed her accurately as always. I only ever take my dog here. She is now fully recovered and back to her playful, healthy, happy, loving self. Unlike other vet clinics that charge you a fortune and take advantage of your situation, this vet clinic is considerably financially conscious. This clinic takes care of both you and your furry family members. They genuinely love animals here. Thank you guys again for all your help, compassion and knowledge. I’ll only ever come to this vet clinic! Keep up the great work. Highly recommend you taking your pet here.
WORST VET CLINIC I HAVE EVER BEEN TO. My experiences with Capital City Animal Hospital have been awful due to the lack of both knowledge and competency in treating my 5 month old puppy . I have never taken the time to write a negative review for a business before but was left so upset after every visit with this vet that I feel the need to share my experience with others in hopes of preventing similar situations from occurring. The 1st time I took my pup in was for his final set of vaccinations. Like most puppies, he DOES NOT like the vets, needles, or frankly anything poking at him. The vet & techs, while very friendly, did not make any attempt to control/hold him while trying to give him shots. I had to pin down all of his legs while he bit me as they gave him his shots. The timid, hands-off approach taken by the staff has me wondering how they deal with any animal who isn't half asleep during the time of procedure. I have had to continue to be the individual who holds him down while they prod and poke at him - being a 5'1, 90lbs female I am under the impression that most people are capable of holding him down, especially those who are thought to have experience in the matter. Shortly after this my pup developed a rash on his leg. When we brought him in the vet was unable to tell what it was and gave us topical cream to put on his leg. I was told to put a cone on him to prevent him from licking it off. The vet & vet techs made a feeble attempt of putting one on while he ran around on the ground before giving up - I had to put the cone on myself at home which was extremely stressful for both myself and the pup. I did some googling and found pictures of similar looking rashes which lead the vet to agree with the findings and then prescribe him different oral antibiotics - the lack of time the vets put into figuring out the rash looked like a common, minor bacterial infection was astounding. We took him back for the 4th time to get a biopsy done when the rash didn't improve much. We were told to not feed him after breakfast, yet the vet techs fed him multiple treats as he ran around freaking out on the floor while they tried to stick a thermometer in his ear if you haven't noticed the trend by now they were unable to get his temperature. The vet informed us that our pup will need stitches and have to wear a cone, or a hospital-type-suit that needs to be untied a lengthy and difficult process every time he has to pee. I expressed my concerns with the gown to the vet and asked her to put the cone on while he was under anesthetic. When we picked him up we were informed by a tech that they could not get the cone on him and he is in the jumpsuit. When I said that's unacceptable the vet came out and informed me it is because he was thrashing the cone around, and that behavior could open the stitches. Instead, they brought him out thrashing around in gown, the suit was barely tied up I had to redo it, his bandages were falling off, and he was screaming bloody murder. I do not know if they even made an attempt with the cone, as I was told 2 different stories. At this point I wanted to cry and kept expressing my concerns about the suit He is a puppy who hates clothes and will try to get it off, I will not be able to put it on by myself while he fights me, he can still get at his stitches in it. They shrugged their heads and suggested I cut a hole in the belly of the suit so he can pee without taking it off which I did at home once again. He destroyed the suit in 1 day. This ordeal has cost upwards of $1000.00 so far. The vet also informed us after our 1st visit about the rash to get insurance to cover any expenses that may come up if it doesn't get better. She suggested I sign up through the clinic with the pet insurance provider they are partnered with. Trusting her advice I got the insurance, only to be informed after that the provider is finicky with claims & because we already went to the vet about the rash that NONE of our expenses would be covered.
After going to a different vet and not being overly impressed, a coworker recommended that I take my cat here. I am so glad I did. Dr. Pascale Lauzier and her team are awesome. My cat is usually very uncooperative with strangers but we had absolutely no issues with her here. They were so nice and caring and took the time to discuss all options and pricing. Compared to the other vet, I saved myself hundreds if not thousands of dollars. But not only that, my cat is getting the treatment and care she deserves. Dr. Lauzier even emailed me and asked me how she was doing. It is so nice and refreshing to know that my cat is being properly taken care of by people who care! The service is amazing here! The energy of the building is really nice too, the woman at the front desk and the Vet tech I forget their names! were super awesome as well. I highly recommend.
This place is great. They treat the animals so well. You can tell they love animals by the way they play and have patience with them. I went there many times for vaccines and normal appointments for my cat and dog. They usually give my animals wet food to make them comfortable. The only problem is the price!! So expensive. I never felt they were pushing me to extra treatments, but they prices are so expensive. Just called them today checking the price for spraying my dog, they told me $450!!!! All other places I called in the whole city ranges 160-270 same conditions!!!! I also asked how much is to remove a teeth during the surgery, since my dog will be anesthesized, they told me $300, clearly is wrong and the receptionist did some type of mistake. I called other places to confirm the teeth removal and they told me it would cost $20 internet says usually is $5. Anyway, this is crazy expensive, it's unacceptable.
Nobody likes to have to take their loved pet to the vet in an emergency situation and it seems that my fur babies only seem to get sick on Sundays, the only day other Vets are not open. Yes, taking your pet here is going to cost more money but in the end I would rather have my pet have the best experience they can have in an already stressful situation, plus they will work to provide treatment within your budget. Both times I have used this clinic, we have been very happy with the time our pups have spent here. Dr. Jackson personally called to update us on our pets status and came out to discuss discharge instructions personally when our pet was discharged. All staff we interacted with were friendly and understanding. I would recommend this clinic to anyone!!!
These people are great. Yes, this is an emergency clinic, they triage the animals in and they will cost more than your regular vet but they are there 24 hours a day and 7 days a week. We were here close to a month ago and my dog ended up needing emergency GI surgery. They were very honest with us regarding our options, possible outcomes and cost. After the surgery, we were told we could come and go and stay as long as we wanted, they have a "Comfort Room", where we were allowed to spend as much time as we needed. My dog is alive because they were there when we needed them and that's what's important.
4 years ago I had to take my senior dog here, she was throwing up all through the night and was showing increased signs of distress. My dad and I came into the clinic at 7am crying our eyes out, asking if they could help. My regular vet did not open until 9am. I was prepared to have my dog put down if need be, but wanted to know what was wrong and if anything could be done. They took my dog for an examination and left us to wait in the waiting room never have I been to a veterinarian that has done this. 5 minutes later the vet came out it was so fast I can't recall their name and said there was nothing wrong with my dog. The vet accused me of wanting to put my dog down because I didn't want her anymore. This was disgusting and I was only 17, I was crying my eyes out in their waiting room and they had the nerve to ask me that. They didn't offer to do any tests or discuss treatment options with me, they relied purely on physical examination. I left and took my dog to my regular vet once they opened and the experience was MUCH better, kinder, and was actually focused on the health of my baby. Unfortunately she passed away and it broke my heart. I wish the vet we saw at this clinic had done more and treated us better.
Sometimes you can expect a bit of a wait just like any other vet in the city, but the staff are wonderful, knowledgeable and caring. My dog ate something toxic and they saved her life. The next night, she somehow got her paws on some seasoning with onion powder and garlic in it, and they were able to answer some questions on the phone and advise me whether I'd need to bring her in again. My prior experieces at animal hospitals are limited to the 24/7 animal hospital in Lethbridge who charged me an extra $40 when I came in for an emergency visit outside of regular business hours, but Capital City keeps their rates the same regardless of whether you're coming in at 4pm or 4am. I highly recommend them, especially if you're new to the city like me and need to have your pet checked out while you scope out the vets in your neighborhood.
I was absolutely blown away with how great my experience was. I’m so grateful to Dr. Zhou and her amazing team. Like most people our dogs are a big part of our family and it was beyond comforting to see how much they cared about our Neeka. Every step of the way I was updated with a call or text and they even sent me a photo after surgery. It meant a lot to me that they went to so much trouble to make sure we were both comfortable with everything that was going on. They are incredibly knowledgeable and were able to answer every single question that I had and they even told me things that I didn’t even think to ask about. They also took care of talking to the insurance company and making sure I was getting everything I was entitled to from my policy. They took care of absolutely everything. It’s obvious that they are very experienced and that everyone there genuinely cares about animals. It’s hard to find the right words to express my gratitude all I can say is thank you for caring so much.
I had a horrible experience here with my cat 4 years ago. I too could not afford the treatments they said my cat needed but they wouldn't do anything for him until they had $ in hand. I had to get relatives to help me. By that time, it was really already too late. I was told to leave for the rest of the night and come back in the morning. I barely had gotten there when my husband called to tell me my cat was crashing. I ran in and saw him for the last few excrutiating minutes of his life. They knew how severely sick he was but gave me false hope that he would pull through. I then got stuck with a massive bill to pay off and nothing but horrible memories of his passing. Never again. I have had three more cats pass on since he did and their deaths were dignified, loving and NOT traumatic for them or us. I cannot even go by this vet hospital now.
