This was our first time visiting the canyon river grill. The food was awesome. Every dish was top notch. We had the steak, which was amazing. The halibut, cooked perfectly and a large portion! And steak salad. Drinks were excellent as well. Not as good was the atmosphere. There was a large group a couple of tables away that was very loud. Seemed like everyone was shouting. It was so loud we couldn't carry on a conversation at our table. Part of the joy in eating out with friends is talking to your friends and that was just not possible till we exited the place. They seemed a little understaffed as well. Our server was very polite and kind but very occupied. It took a bit of persistent effort to get a second glass of wine or dessert. We tried asking the gentleman at the counter for a glass of wine and he said he was busy washing dishes. This could be an awesome place though with a few tweaks. Edit: thank you for your response, however I think you misunderstood my comments. I would never suggest that a restaurant dampens the festive and happy spirit of a large group. They were enjoying themselves with friends which is exactly what dinner out should be. When one group is laughing and having a good time it's infectious. The difficulty was the space. When one person is loud, everyone has to be louder at their tables to converse. Hopefully the space is architecturally designed to absorb and soften the sounds making for a cozy atmosphere. While your space is small and cozy, it's all hard surfaces that echo and enhance the sound. Combine that with our old ears and we could not hear each other at all. It literally took three tries just to see how the couple across the table liked their food. I certainly did not mean to offend but just to provide my honest opinion.
This magical grill will have you smiling & telling your family & friends about your wonderful experience! The staff was super accommodating considering the establishment was for reservation recommended on their website. We got to sit barside a charming bartender who was very helpful in making sure we had silverware & our order was taken quickly. I felt very welcomed here. I ordered the cod & chips were very good. 5/5 Bartender made us a surprise non-alcoholic beverage. The atmosphere was 5/5 Clean & professional 5/5 Food Quality for the price. The atmosphere was amazing and the interior was fresh & earthy. The bathrooms were clean.
23 July 2022 - 5+++ Stars First time here. Came for our anniversary. Very happy with EVERYTHING about our experience. Each appetizer we got we got the Bread and the Hush Puppies would have been good for 3 or 4 people to share. The Ribeye Steak is the best I have ever had. My wife loved her Dungeness Crab Crusted Halibut. The waitress told us the menu changes daily, and can be seen on their website around lunchtime. We had 2 desserts. Each was good sized for one person. I enjoyed my Flan and my wife's Blueberry Hill and coconut cake was terrific. Was a great special occasion meal. We also sat outside, on the patiotdeck that has a retractable roof and sliding side panels. As the sunset set, they opened everything up and it was beautiful. Note: for colder months, they also had heaters on the patio/deck.
Wild Copper River Salmon at its finest. Halibut with seasonal forged morels. Chef Kevin hand picks his produce which his team expertly crafts it into an outstanding presentation. Joe and Philip provide classic cocktails or experimental masterpieces for the more adventurous.
Wonderful food! Friendly service. Our waitress was very attentive to our needs. Nice view doesn't hurt either.
Very nice atmosphere by the river. We are outside on a beautiful sunny day. Unfortunately the seats are low compared to the solid railing, so the water is not visible when seated outside. Higher tables and/or a see-through railing would allow diners to see the beautiful river. I believe the river is visible when seated inside. Appetizers and entrées were amazing. I loved the shrimp appetizer. My wife had the cherry/king salmon dish and loved it. I similarly liked the NY steak with carmelized shiitake mushrooms, even though I’m not normally a mushroom fan. The steak had more gristle than I expected at that price-point. Service was excellent and I liked that we could make a reservation for indoors or outside. We will definitely be back!!
Great service. Food was very good. I had the salmon and mom had the halibut. Shrimp starter were huge prawns and very goodRecommended dishesTroll Caught Alaskan Winter King Salmon - Port Soaked Cherries Smoked Almond & Rosemary Brown Butte, Wild Caught Butter Poached Jumbo Gulf Shrimp
Food was excellent. Small dining area. River view cluttered by out buildings and junk. Waitstaff seemed impatient.Recommended dishesCanyon River House Salad
Was not sure it was going to deliver, but the appetizer shrimp, clam chowder and fish dishes were SO phenomenal. The accompaniments were spot on! Fried shredded beets? Arrow Really? So flipping good! We talked at dinner about how we will ditch the couple other restaurants we thought were the best in Kittitas county for Canyon River Grill.
We had an amazing Valentine's Dinner. Food is delicious, fresh and huge portions! Chef and staff were very friendly. Can't wait to go back.
