I have been crossing the border for a little over 22 yrs. now: daily, for work. Nexus is a big part of making it possible...so when one of ONLY two yup, busiest North American border crossing and that's all we have Nexus Customs lanes is moving cars at 1/4 the pace of the other...well, let's just say it is hard not to ask the question: have you never heard of SLA before? That's right, does Canada Border Services even understand what Service Level Agreement means?
Rude and unprofessional towards fellow Canadians. I would like to remind you that you serve the people, NOT the other way around. If you don't like your job, quit, we are not keeping you. I'm ashamed these people are the first sight that visitors see of Canada. Absolutely embarrassing!
I cross everyweek . Cbsa officers are very professional and polite , they always help to cross border conveniently
just for shift change always take-20/25 minutes, they don’t care how been seating for whole day driving a big rig with safety and when it’s time to get home they do frustrate.. without any reason.-30 minutes on 1 truck rather than pull someone whi has issues.
From my experience: - they aren't aware of what different areas of the border do, as we went to pay duty on something we bought despite confirming twice via phone that this was ok with them and they said they don't do that there. Fun fact: we eventually did pay our duty and went on our way after a supervisor was called over. - they have no remorse in making a handicapped woman cry for providing them with valid answers and documents her service dog was required to console her for the rest of the time. - the male secretary was inept in handling his aggression and barked at us for asking where to go to speak with the people we were looking for. - the place is easy to access, park in, find from the street, and see vehicles in the secured lot if you're waiting for someone. - the agents seem to not care if people are standing around outside; that is, they ignore them and go about their day. - a female agent tried to act tough but then did a 180 once we were completed our transaction and wanted to help carry our items to our car a bit suspicious, in my opinion... - the agent in charge of collecting our duty seemed to have a hard time adding numbers together to determine total value which played a part in the above woman crying despite documents being provided. - parking was reasonable in terms of available spaces. Overall, unless you want to deal with a bunch of over-aggressive dolts who appear to have other issues, I would stick with the Blue Water crossing in Sarnia.
Close border from Canada to US,you should first download the ArriveCAN,then creat the account and feel the way you traveled with and add you proofs of Covid-19 vaccination. If you do not that, you will be in quarantine and I am sure no one likes to be in that situation. Enjoy traveling following the Canada rules. By the way the offers are kindly and listen and happy to help if you show your kindness. You love Canada don't mess up it,is powerful and Canada loves all good people. Thank you Canada
This border is now always busy that have 20 booth but they open only 13 and the weekend only 5 or 6 every driver spend 1 hour or sometime more than that during couple month they don't care driver time they should hire more officers they make 6 booth new past 6 years whichs they not use until now
I travelled to Canada several times from USA. This was the first time I used this port of entry. I was very disappointed with way the border officer treated me. They were very rude and unprofessional. When I travelled from Niagara port, they were very nice and the process was very smooth.
Need to hire more officers to avoid backups everday and need to change shifts effectively, so it does not endup in large backups. We already have limited hours to drive, so try not to waste it here unnecessary.
Mixed - some officers are good while most are bullies. I cross frequently and find the US side much easier than the Canadian side. The Canadian officers are not always aware of the laws and try to intimidate you if you question their judgment. If you question them, they pull you over for inspection, inspect your vehicle and belongings and have 2 to 3 officers present when talking to them about their interpretation of the law. If you ask to speak to a supervisor, they don't allow direct access, they call the supervisor on the phone and you can hear them laughing about proving their Point of View is clearly the only one. Very unprofessional and unfortunate.
