Super friendly, both US and Canada side. I'm a US citizen coming across first time as a walking pedestrian. I encountered one US CBP officer and he was extremely respectful and helpful. Then the Canadian BP, absolutely pleasant encounter as well. Extremely helpful and gave me all the necessary info without making me feel stupid. Also a truck driver from US, needed info about the process involved with border crossings commercially, great help there too.
The worst and most unprofessional people work on this border. They broke my spouse's truck's storage' door's handle and damaged his truck. The truck's camera's SD card is lost after their inspection... Even they did not apologize for their impolite attitude. They abused my husband mentally. I think they think all people are criminals. Sorry to live with these people who humiliate people, in the same land. It is good to teach them what we shout proudly and loudly to the world "Canadian values." Also, keeping toys in your car as a gift from your family is strange for them. Really shameful... they gave a paper for damages that they did in the truck, but my husband forgot to bring it. Then, he called the office the next day, and they told him he could get it from another border, and they cannot email it because they use government email!! But he could not get it in other borders
The Immigration officer is really too unkind. He is too authoritative and blunt. I will never enter Sumas again. He needs to change his attitude.
Coming home is a rude and unpleasant experience, but as my boyfriend lives in the states I have to put up with these rude people I get they have regulations on Alcohol but I have brought a bottle of wine back before and I was there for 4 hrs this time I was there for 24 and I got treated like a criminal and slapped with additional fees because of a bottle of wine. They are also so suspicious when you come up and I just went to see my man, not a welcome home, never a kind smile.
Long waits. Have a much easier, quicker, and more pleasant experience crossing into the US than coming back to my own country. If we Canadians have a reputation of being overly polite, you'd never know from our border officers at Abbotsford-Huntingdon. Our experience since the border opening after COVID is the the Canadian officers have been quite grumpy. Is there labour strife?? Pretty much pulling us in for any value, even for a few dollars in tax.
Worth border. Worth stuff working here. No respect to truck drivers. I was this terrible place last night. They searched my truck around two hours. They broke the closet’s door in the cab. They broken the srereo’s cover in the cab. They dropped trash on the floor I never seen like this. They asked me why I have toy in my truck. They asked me a few extra questions not on there duty. I’m going to report this behavior behaviorth that they did with me. Minus five to them.
Officer Abdou is extremely rude and confrontational with the public my experience with him is one of the worst I've had with a "law" enforcement officer.
Tried to enter to go home to Alaska with my daughter that lives in Washington and she was denied entry since she didn't work or live in Alaska. So they politely kicked her out. I took her home, went back to the border by myself and got the 3rd degree from a different Canadian Border Guard. I was appalled at how rude and demanding he was being regarding the new rules they had implemented in the last few days. I just had 2 friends go through the border in the previous 7 days. Unfortunately I wish there was a different way to drive to Alaska. The ferry is too expensive and slow. Good news is that the checkpoints in the Yukon Territory have the nicest people. They were firm but polite that I had 24 hours to travel through the Yukon Territory, which I did do. Safe travels to everyone.
Inconsistent. Is the best way I can describe my border crossing. The rules that are listed via the Canadian website for border crossings are different then the ones enforced at the border. Especially during the height of Covid. They tell you one thing, then you enter the country and are told completely different rules by local law enforcement. Borders says you way use drive throughs, local PD says you must have enough food to get through Canada. Border says you cannot cannot camp in your RV, local PD doesn’t care. I understand the border has to enforce the laws, but the laws being enforced are not the same ones that are presented by the government via the Information they provide online and by phone. We were require to change an entire route during Covid, traveling longer distances, spending more time in the country and staying at more hotels just because they wanted us to take the ALCAN. They were also hung up on the guns I shipped to Alaska, and wanted to know where they physically were at the moment i was at the border ever though I showed them a bill of shipment for them. The only reason I decided to give to stars is because the border agent I was dealing with was nice to me, and respectful. Otherwise, I will avoid that border like the plague.
Worst border experience of all time. Too bad can't award negative stars. Traveling back to Alaska, The line of 4 cars in front of us took 2 hours before we got to the booth. 3 out of the 4 cars were pulled over and had extensive searches. We got turned away because we did not have a negative covid test. 2 days before going to the border I had called to get more information on acceptable covid test and was since I was traveling to Alaska I did not need one. Wrong!!!!!!!!!! At the border they sent me back to Bellingham which they told me I should get a test back in 6 hours.
