This is becoming my favourite bike shop. They specialize in unique bikes recumbents, etc and it's the only place I've brought my folding electric bike where I didn't feel judged and knew it was in good hands because the mechanic didn't for a moment look concerned or confused by the bike. They also didn't try to send me back to the shop I got it at, which other shops have done and they've been useless. They replaced my tires in 30 minutes and installed new brake levers in less than 24 hours. The costs are very reasonable for the quality of service. I highly recommend them!
I purchased a new road bike for commuting from Cambie Cycles in July 2014. The experience was flawless from start to finish. They presented plenty on options, asked lots of questions, and provided lots of functional knowledge to ensure the bike matches my needs and body size. Once the order arrived, they put it together, fitted the bike for me, and tuned it up. More specifically, Dan bike mechanic was very personable, knowledgeable, and really took the time to ensure the bike met all my needs and gave me some simple tips for good bike upkeep. Since the purchase, I have been riding 3-4x/week and been very satisfied with the bike. I would recommend services from Cambie Cylces and look forward to keeping my bike in shape with them in the future.
I bought a folding bike here in June of 2013. First of all, here I was able to find the largest selection of folding bikes. Second, shop prices were $50 lower than in other places, but other than that, I got a discount. In the third, I got a great advice, and got exactly the bike I need. Fourth, all the accessories right there, and were installed on a bicycle for free elsewhere I have offered to pay extra for the installation of accessories And more than that - a store employee an elderly man served me for an hour after the store closed - replaced the tires for more suitable for me, installed accessories, etc. .. Thank you guys!
I'm new to the city and needed to purchase a bike to get around. While they were quite busy when I went in they remained attentive to my needs and helped me find a great bike for a very reasonable price. They aren't pushy with their sales either, they just want you to find a bike that suits you.
On several different occasions the mechanics at Cambie Cycles have gone above and beyond what I deem as fair and good service. I've had my bike serviced at other shops in Vancouver, but still think the mechanics at Cambie Cycles to be more committed. Now I go out of my way to have my bike serviced here.
I needed a set of 100mm square taper cranks for my child stoker tandem. 100mm cranks don't exist so I bought a pair of 170mm cranks at Our Community Bikes and took them to Cambie Cycles. For a very fair price, Cambie measured, drilled and tapped new holes, and cut and rounded the cranks. They even stamped an L and R on the cranks They are reversed for the tandem. They did a beautiful job and only took one day to do it. Highly recommended for this level of customization. No other shops that I called even had a set of 1/2" pedal taps or a drill press and they all looked at me funny when I mentioned shortening cranks like it was impossible. Thank you Cambie Cycles. I'm glad a shop like this exists in Vancouver.
I went to Cambie Cycles looking for a foldable adult trike so I could resume biking comfortably and safely after having both knees replaced last year. I was very pleased with Brock's excellent service, obvious knowledge and friendly manner. He answered all my questions about the tadpole and delta trike styles. I chose the Catrike Trail model and, though the store did not have a Catrike Trail assembled, Brock let me do a test ride on a Catrike Villager, a similar model in fit and comfort. When I put my order in for the Catrike Trail, Brock did not try to sell me any unnecessary accessories. In fact, when I said I wanted to order a carrier to attach to the seat back, he recommended the store's cheaper alternative over Catrike's own, more expensive accessory. I left the store feeling well served and looking forward to picking up my Catrike Trail when it comes in.
Disorganized, outdated business, narrow stock options punctuated with a lot of crappy, old stuff that has been previously returned or is just treated badly in storage i.e. kept in half-open boxes in dusty piles -- of five things I've bought there in the last two years, three were missing hardware items, and customer service was often surprisingly bad. I've given them three chances because they are close to me, and I will definitely not go back. Better to go across town to Different Bikes, or Dunbar Cycles, where they have better stock and much better customer service.
I love that Cambie Cycles exists. Sure service is sometimes quirky but they always try to solve your problems, and in the cheapest way possible, no hard sells; be patient and you'll discover the value of this place. CBC classical on the radio, a wide selection of bike configurations, and a willingness to tackle any problem.
We bought an electrical trike for our mom from them, and they attached and wired the electrical kit. The way they wired the kit was not proper, as the wires in the front wheel started wrapping around the axle of the wheel. We confirmed this with Belize Bicycle, the manufacturer. When our mom was biking, the front wheel fell right off, luckily not in the street! They blamed us for taking off the front wheel and playing with the electrical kit! Such dishonesty, and not taking responsibility for their error! What would have happened if she fell into the street? If they don't take responsibility for their work, then what will happen to the next customer? We thought they were good company to go to, having a good reputation with electrical bikes, but we were wrong! Don't go there!!
