Best veal sandwich in Toronto. I've been going to the original location for over 30 years and the Etobicoke location is just as good almost!. Huge sandwiches that are really tasty. The sauce is excellent and the meat tender, with a nice fresh bun. These guys sell a thousand sandwiches on some days for a reason.

Such a classic place to get a sandwich. This local chain is the stuff of legends. Veal, meatball, chicken, steak, veggie sandwiches...fantastic stuff. Hot or sweet, however you like it. The sauce is a perfect recipe and it can get messy but only in a good way. This particular location, like most of them, is very busy but they staff know how to keep it moving, the wait will not be too long, it is well worth it anyway. The prices are steep but the portions are large, so it is kind of justified. Try a mini sandwich instead? You can get some olives and a few other things on the side. California Sandwiches is a must try if you are in the greater Toronto area. I'll take an extra hot veal anytime!

This location has always been decent from what I could remember, but today was horrible service. The woman or should I say girl because she was acting immature by the impatience she had when my wife asked if there was only one size for the sandwiches answered back rudely. My wife asked for a meatball sandwich with cheese and I asked for sweet veal with onions and mushrooms. My wife does not like mushrooms at all, but had to watch her eat a sandwich next to me covered in mushrooms and onions and NO CHEESE on it. With the attitude of the cashier you would think you would at least be good at being a cashier? Customer service does this trait even exist nowadays?

I’ve ordered here many times, but I must say it is not my favourite location. Other locations I’ve been to are slightly more consistent when I go. In the photos I ordered veal with mushrooms, cheese and onions. Delicious! The single veal sandwich I ordered came up to about $20.00. The sandwich was massive and definitely filling.

If you’re REALLY still ordering from this restaurant after reading this review, DOUBLE CHECK your order literally OPEN your sandwiches and check EVERYTHING you asked for because this restaurant CAN’T do their job properly. I’d rather order from another location from now on. I ordered two steak sandwiches with CHEESE the ONLY request was to add CHEESE. Shouldn’t be too complicated. Got two steak sandwiches with NO CHEESE . Tried to call the restaurant and no one picked up. Boo. Ended up paying for something I didn’t receive. Thanks for ruining my dinner, #CaliforniaSandwiches

First time having a California sandwich. Went in to have a look at the menu. The attendant did not seem happy when I said I had not made up my mind yet. Mind you, I was not in the lineup but away as to not hog the line. Finally, I made up my mind and ordered a sweet veal sandwich with mushrooms and provolone cheese. It was amazing. Breaded and cooked veal, massive bun and topping of tomato sauce was heavenly. Will definitely have to try the other options next time I visit.,

Incredible sandwiches and people, feels like you are in a proper Italian family’s kitchen - where the food is amazing and hospitality is warm.

The most disappointing experience I have had or witnessed in any restaurant or take out establishment. Was there around 12:45 this afternoon. The girl behind the counter was rude and obnoxious to say the least? Kept rolling her eyes as we tried to determine what we wanted and options for the sandwiches. She may know the menu but most people don't frequent there on a daily basis. She was quick to bark at people? I lost my appetite after that experience! Didn't even touch the sandwich. I hadn't been there since precovid, I will not be visiting again anytime in the near future. Customer service, patience and gratitude for customers as a whole seems to have vanished. One would think after all of the stress we all experienced throughout COVID that restaurants and staff would be eager to serve once again? Sadly not the case with this staff member. She may want to rethink her career choices.

Been a while since I last went! Get lots of napkins. Get zucchini on your sandwich. They have pork schnitzel now, got offered a mix of mustard and tomato sauce on it, and it is a great combo! The sandwiches are big. You'll be getting what you paid for. Top notch!

I usually like this franchise. But this time it wasn’t to the par. Got the veal sandwich and they put too much sauce to the point the bread became soggy. And veal was little chewy. Sandwich is bug and will fill you up. Will give it another Try at another location but until then this deserves 2 or less star.
