Story

Calgary Meals on Wheels is a proven leader in providing healthy, locally made meals to our city. Under the guidance of our Registered Dietitian, Production Manager and Chef, we pride ourselves in making nutritious and well-portioned meals for thousands of Calgarians each year.

We specialize in providing lunch and supper through our Home Meal Delivery Program to more than 700 Calgarians each delivery day. Additionally, our Hot Soup Program leads the way in the support we provide to 132 schools throughout our city.

Products

Home Meal Delivery Program: Based on our original meal delivery program from 1965, these programs offer the option of fresh-chilled lunch and supper, authentic Chinese and frozen meals delivered to our clients’ doorstep. All lunches include; soup or salad, sandwich and dessert. All suppers include; protein, starch and vegetable. Special dietary options are available and can be discussed with our on-staff Registered Dietitian. Whether you are an individual living alone, a couple or a family, we have meal variety and sizes to meet your needs.
School Programs: Since 2000 Calgary Meals on Wheels has been providing support to vulnerable students throughout Calgary with our Hot Soup Program. More recently, we have begun a partnerships with several groups in our city to assist them with meal provisions as the number of hungry school children continues to rise in Calgary. (See Appendix A for a breakdown of the various school programs)
Group Meal Program: There are so many organizations doing great work in our community and this program is designed to provide them with an affordable option for nutritious meals at their gatherings. This program serves; seniors centres, schools, non-profit organizations and more.
In 2016, we prepared and produced more than 463,000 meals, serving nearly 4000 clients each month. This is an overall increase of over 28% from 2015.
