The interior design is cozy and warm, pretty small. Even though the place is small, the space was well used. I like how they put the fresh baked goods in the display case right in the center of the shop. There are more displays on both sides of the cafe too. It is like a mix of a bakery and a little café. It was super busy at the time we came, we had to wait quite long since there were only two servers, they were also doing cashier. Prepare to wait in long lines at busy hours. Desserts were okay. The “Strawberry Yogurt Fat-caron” was decent, the filling was not that good, it was kinda bland for us, and the texture of it reminded me of eating margarine, the shell was crispy and sweet enough, I could feel the flavor of strawberries but not really the yogurt. But the appearance was so pretty, the blend of cream and pink was appealing!!! Also tried the “Matcha Donut”, the cream was super creamy, with strong matcha scent, overall was okay, good to try but easily get fed up since there is too much cream puffed. Price is good compared to other Korean café in Downtown area. Good place to chill with your friends. Sweet vibe to take some lovely pics here. One point for nice background music. I saw some people doing their work while enjoying some sweetness too, so it is a great idea to do some study or work there.
With a name like Café Monet, I was picturing a studio where like~minded artists could congregate to paint while simultaneously getting their caffeine fix. I was the latter half right. A very inviting and old school charming place, I can see people just buying an item every hour and staying there all day long to relax, catch up with friends, read a good book, clack away at their laptop, etc. Monet has several of the artist's paintings hanging on the walls: Flowers at Vetheuil, The Japanese Footbridge, Polars on the Epte and Woman with a Parasol. And that seems to be the extent of the connection between the name of the place and the actual Café. I have to assume that the owner must have a deep profound appreciation for Monet to have erected a Café in his honor as opposed to just hanging knock~off copies of his paintings in their home. Moving on, they have implemented the Chinese Bakery style of tray and pay, meaning, you fill up a tray with all the food that you want and then they'll ring you up at the front counter. Items like their Fatcarons {gigantic macarons}, boxed desserts, and full sized cakes are under display cases at the front, which makes sense since they're the more expensive items. However, I'm not sure why the Twists, Donuts, and Scones are also only available at the front, as they're no more expensive than the other items that are open season for you to grab. If I had to guess, it would be because these items look the prettiest, so they're trying to preserve their integrity. The baked goods are a mix of East meets West, so there is something for everyone. One item that caught my eye was the Ugly Chewy Bread, which I did not purchase. I'll grant you that it doesn't look especially appetizing, but with a name like that, you have to wonder just what the heck is in it. I thought I'd sample a little of everything but it ended up looking more like a Chocolate Tasting: Chocolate Scone, Chocolate Cream Donut, Chocolate Raspberry Cake, Red Velvet Cake, Iced Hot Chocolate and a bottle of Pure Leaf Peach Iced Tea. The scone was hard to bite into, the donut had cream gushing out of it with every bite, the cakes were soft and sweet, and the Iced Hot Chocolate wasn't bad. I arrived at around 11:00 and there was barely anyone inside. Perhaps because they were too busy lining up next door for the grand opening of The Halal Guys. It started to pick up as I was leaving, though. I probably wouldn't go out of my way to come here all the time, but I wouldn't mind coming back to try their other items. In comparison to their competitors, the prices here are pretty reasonable, and the food is decent, so I'd recommend trying this place out. If money is a concern, you could do worse than Café Monet, as at least you do get fair bang for your buck.
Good place to eat a Korean pastry. The place is a bit small, and depending on the day you have to wait and find a spot. The service is good, could be a bit better. The flavors are good, specially tiramisu, cheesecake, and some others. The price versus size is relative balance, could be better. What I like about this place is the variety of pastries! 4/5 starts especially because of the space, I wait a bit with my friends, but it is ok less than 8 minutes. Good new place over Robson! Prices a bit expensive, but it is ok! Washroom inside!
A lovely Asian-inspired with nods to Monet through the paintings on the wall cafe and bakery. Perfect place to meet a friend or get some work done in a happy atmosphere. Cozy, clean with delicious food and drinks, ample seating and yummy donuts I didn't get a donut picture because we ate them so fast.
Came here on a Saturday. The place was packed full of people but we were lucky enough to get a spot. They have all the baked goods out for you to grab very Korean cafe vibes. We also ordered an iced caramel macchiato. It's definitely on the sweeter side. We also tried the raspberry scone, matcha donut and classic croquette. The croquette was way too oily. Good amount of potato filling and not overly salty but way too oily. Would not recommend. The matcha donut had way too much food colouring in it for it to be a natural shade of green. It has very little matcha flavour. Wasn't too sweet and the donut itself was fluffy. But there was just too much cream. Would not recommend. The raspberry scone was my favourite out of the three. It's a little dry. The raspberry jam gave it the perfect sweetness. Would recommend the scones Also had the glutinous rice donut - nice and chewy. Reminds me of the stalls in Korea. Okay bakery for a place to pick up some baked goods. The prices are decent for downtown. Not a lot of places to sit and wouldn't recommend the coffee
Aesthetic store, had many seatings but it is quite close to each other! I personally like the bakery items, but since it is a Korean store so things will be on the sweeter side so anyone who isn’t like sweet things should be aware: I really enjoy the tiramisu cake Drinks were ok, not bad but nothing surprising
Good pastry they have, my daughter always like the taste. Poor lady who worked there alone. Had to be cashier, barista, server; they definitely need to have at least one more staff.
it was a really nice little café, with a lot of bakery. It varied from bread, croissant, donuts to cakes. They have macarons, fruits and swiss rolls. They also had many different drink options. It was so hard to pick as there were many options. Would definitely go back there, loved it.
Service was good but not great; I had a coffee 30-minutes before visiting this business, requested for a Matcha latte the barista made it extremely sweet when I did not request for it, I kindly asked to exchange it to a non-sweet matcha latte and it was poorly made it. Hmmmm… you be the next to judge but I did not enjoy it.
Absolutely adorable café!! I highly recommend stopping in and grabbing a treat! The matcha is also very good!Food: 5/5
