Great selection of well priced organic produce and hard to find gourmet ingredients. Byward Fruit Market consistently carries the best selection of wild mushrooms in the city. The staff are knowledgeable and friendly, the produce is fresh and the range of ingredients is superb. Highly recommend this boutique establishment for all your culinary creations.
My son Henry and I are always pleased with the quality of service and products.
decent selection. wonderful mushrooms, and other hidden gems. on june 22 between 3.30 and 4.30, the woman behind the register reached into the trash with her gloved hands to push it down, then proceeded to touch the produce I was buying. I am not a frequent customer, but this shop is one of my favourites, and it was too bad to see this happen. I should have said something at the time, and I apologise to all other customers for not doing that. Thus, I am further inclined to leave this review.
Quaint little place that sells fruits and veggies. It has been in the market for a number of years - the owner is very nice and really helpful. Hard not to support a small place like this which is a "ma and pa" shop. With the incoming of Farm Boy, it's difficult to support a store given the prices in comparison. I still go for time to time but I now take my business to farm boy to get a better price and sometimes quality. support if you can
Living right near the market and working in the downtown core, it's easy to just go to Farm Boy- despite its outrageous price and often crowded aisles. The Byward Fruit Market is a local and intimate alternative right in the Byward Market, with a friendly staff and peaceful interior. Their fruit and veggies are a decent price and they have a surprising variety. It's more fun to shop here than in a basement or at the Metro, or Loblaws.
Fantastically fresh produce , charming walk back in time, where farm fresh products and friendly service rules. One of the few places to buy tomatillos and poblano peppers I have found. Help support local , you will not regret it!
Really neat experience in the heart of Ottawa. It was bigger than I expected, there's tons of food options, music playing and plenty to see
Good fresh food and friendly staff. They have a many specialty items that are difficult to find elsewhere. Some things I go for are; dried Mexican chilies, tomatillos, exotic fruits, nice dates and nice selection of fresh mushrooms.
I always stop in here when I am in the market. The staff are so friendly and helpful!!! They offer such a selection of fruits and veggies some stuff I can't find many other places in Ottawa. This is the go to place for mushroom varieties, salts and herbs!
The Byward Market is a part of Old Ottawa that's a real treat to visit. A combination of fruit-and-veggie farmers market and a quaint town's square, this largely car-free zone offers tourist trinkets to artisenal goods. Do try the fresh beavertails! If you love good food you can find restaurants offering cuisine from all over the world at reasonable prices. There's everything from exotic cheeses to baked goods. It's a busy place but lots of fun to walk about in or find a cafe seat and people watch. It's a stone's throw from downtown and an easy walk to many interesting sites. So give it a look! There's always something interesting to see.
