I’ve lived in the area for a few years now but hadn’t tried Busan Daejj Gukbap until very recently. I’ve been missing out! I went a couple times in the last few months and tried a few different dishes and they’ve all been so good. The side dishes were all my favourites as well. Hoping to try their fried chicken next time! I also found the staff incredibly warm and friendly. I highly recommend this place for people both familiar and unfamiliar with Korean food.
Very authentic Korean food in the neighborhood. Bulgogi beef and beef bibimbap are delicious in good portions. Love their side dishes too. Will be back to try other dishes. Recommend if you are in north Vancouver.
Checked out Busan Daeji Gukbap for a Sunday lunch. They have a second location out in Coquitlam. There was only one waitress running the front so it took awhile to get our order in. - Banchan - kimchi, cubed radish, braised potato and pickled onion. Nothing stood out but decent fare. We were able to get a refill of everything. - Tteok-boki $16.99 - okay but there wasn't much substance to this dish. Wish it came with some rice. - Sundubu $17.99 - we opted for the seafood good amount of mussels and spice level 3. Broth was flavourful. - Dolsot bibimbap $17.99 - rice came out sizzling and crisped up perfectly. Good balance of flavours. Better than expected Korean eats at BDG but it doesn't beat Maru Korean Bistro in North Van.
Spacey and relatively empty at 2/3pm. We had soondae and gukbap. All my friends not Korean and I Korean loved the food here, and the lady was very kind. 10/10 would visit again
I ordered pork bone soup and later told me it’s sold out, so I agreed to change to beef soup, so regret as there’s only 4-5 pieces of beef inside. I also ordered intestine copchang, the cow’s intestine is too difficult to chew, very hard! A totally wrong choice here.
The food was really good. The portions are really big and the side dishes taste very good as well. The food here seems more like, food that actual korean people will enjoy. There is another location in Coquitlam but I do prefer this one. The interior is very clean and looks decently nice as well. I’ll definitely come back here with some more friends. Highly recommend for people who knows how to eat that kind of Korean food.
Really really good. I thought it was good value for the food quantity and quality. We got the combo dishes. The spicy chicken and beef hot pot. They gave us a lot of meat which was great. Would come again for sure.
Ordered pork soup non-spicy, the broth was bomb and the meat portion was generous, but they were too fatty.
This location has started to sell Gukbap similiar as my hometown. Server were quite nice to us. Overally, menu was very yummy. It reminded me of my hometown. I am pretty sure to visit this location again:
Did not have high expectations but exceeded my expectations!! The previous owner at thjs location’s restaurant did not bother training their staff, but this new restaurant is operated by diff ppl. They are so friendly. They cooked for us and even made this heart shaped fried rice. We felt very welcomed here. They also kept up with the service so that I didn’t have to look for them. And of course, the food tasted amazing. Thank you!!!
