This restaurant was a pleasant surprise—particularly the fish and chips, which were outstanding. The fish was incredibly fresh, and I appreciated the option to choose between deep-fried and grilled.nnWe ordered three fish and chips: a deep-fried white fish, a deep-fried cod, and a grilled trout. The deep-fried fish had a perfect coating—crispy, but not too thick or oily. Both types of fried fish were cooked to perfection, and the grilled trout was equally impressive. The buffalo ribeye was decent, though not as exceptional as the fish. Another highlight was the herb and garlic salad dressing—though I found it slightly sweet, the rest of my group absolutely loved it.nnThe only downsides were the cramped space and the long wait—55 minutes for our food—but despite this, it was a great dining experience overall.
It's a local popular bistro for meat eaters as the only vegetarian/Vegan option they have is the French fries with house salad for $20 after taxes. The fish and other meat options on the day we visited were mostly not available. There was only 2 fish option and a ribeye for ordering. The place is small and is busy during the weekends. Recommend to make reservations. Eventually for a meal and drink you'll spend around $45-$50 with taxes and tips. There aren't many options in Yellowknife so this is one of the go-to places to eat out. It is expensive because of the remote location and weather of Yellowknife. If you are vegetarian or Vegan this place ain't worth it. The fries looked overcooked without any seasoning. The place is not at all like your fine dining and clean restaurant but the prices are definitely like the fine dinning restaurant. But yes if in town, like I said which doesn't have many options, this is one of the good places.
It is a local eatery. There were about 10 tables and 10 bar seats.nThe kitchen is open. I could see the chef cooking in front of me and pick up the grilled fish into the plates with his fingers. It practically eating inside a fishy kitchen.nThe restaurant is super busy but only with 3 staff: one cooking , one cleaning and one taking orders / bills . Even they are occupied , all of there are still very courteous and not rushing any quests.nWe were there around 5 pm during the peak season. We only needed to wait a bit . When we left at 6:30 , no lines at all .nCod / trout and arctic charr are all cooked just right. Salad dressing is super flavorful. Chunky fried is ok, nothing to complaint about .
Fun eclectic little place. Great selection of fresh fish to choose from. Highly recommend the slave lake cod and arctic char. The service is good to. Friendly people and great food. Make a reservation before going... It's a really popular place.
This is a must try if you’re visiting Yellowknife!nI loved that the menu was very simple and limited, but fresh and delicious - catch of the day .nI tried the arctic char and cod and loved them both. Saw other people getting the white fish which was a huge portion.nnService was a little slow and could use some improvement, we had to ask for water several times and they forgot to bring the bread and butter to our table, had to ask for that too.
