Amazing baked goods and prices. From their loaves of bread to apple scones to their ‘ooey gooey’ squares… very delicious! Also had the soup of the day at Hurricane Heidi’s cafe and it was flavourful and enjoyable.
I always like going to the Brookfield Bakery & Hurricane Heidi's diner. The baked products are the yummiest, and there's always a lot of options to try. Still, the tried and true products, like brown bread and rolls, pan rolls, raisin bread, are so good. Our family has bought them for MANY years, since before I was born, I'm sure and that was eons ago. My uncle learned to bake there as a high school student. One of my favourites was always the date loaf, but they don't make it too often now, I guess. There is also a selection of locally roasted coffee, as well as homemade jams, pickles and relishes - it's delightfully like going to the church bazaar! And the staff are always efficient, friendly, and they know their stuff. Also, it is often fairly busy, and I usually run into old friends I haven't seen in awhile, which is great, as I don't get out there too much these days. And a few entertaining characters often show up, which is fun. Heidi's has much to offer as well - though I wish it was open more throughout the day. I recall their quiche, whatever type is on offer, as pretty tasty. I know that people come from far and wide, in the summer, especially. On this visit, we also were lucky enough to "hijack" a very amenable young man, in to get some bread and such. We managed to convince him to come across the road and get the van of one of our party out of the mud, which he did with ease, and in very short order. Valerie, Minister of First United Church in Truro, & driver of the van, was most gratified by this, I believe. You don't get service like that at any other bakery that I know of! I highly recommend a visit to this long-beloved, family-run bakery, next to MacQuarrie's drugstore on Route 2, by "Brookfield Corner" in the centre of Brookfield! You'll be back, guaranteed!
We found the bakery items good, but 2 day old breads were high priced. The bakery restaurant food was delicious, the bacon very yummy. Excellent staff. The reason for 2 stars is the cleanliness was really suffering. Restaurant especially needs a good clean and chairs by th Woodstock, disgraceful worn. I wouldn't sit in them. Had a bout of disherra later that afternoon after eating there.
I go there for their Croissants - the most delicious buttery, almondy, or chocolatey you will find. Go early to not be disappointed!! - A Dartmouth Fan
Brookfield bakery has been a staple since childhood. It just can't be beat. The hermit cookies, the breads - the desserts when you know company is coming! The option to get butter cookies vs margarine - its just an experience.
Delicious baked goods. The cinnamon rolls are amazing,as well as the turnovers an option if there are few pies
Went for a lovely big breakfast of bacon, eggs, hashbrowns, toast, tea and homemade jam. Delish!
Absolutely love their breakfast menu, recommend
We needed a cheesecake same day, they accommodated. They deserve an award. Their baked goods are top notch. We also had a pumpkin loaf that was delicious. And the cheesecake was among the best I’ve ever had. Thank you for doing us that favour. We love your work!
The best raisin bread for the past 30+ years. Delicious baked goods served by great staff. Big thumbs up
