The name of this place gives it a big reputation, Briskets Montréal and so we did what the name stated, ordered brisket with fries. Portion was fair for the price tag it's more expensive than normal but it is a deconstructed brisket sandwich with the brisket and fries on side, bread, pickle and coleslaw on the other, you have to construct it yourself. We were one of the 2 customers there during lunch time and it was odd. Service was still sluggish even though there were only 2 of us. There were random customers who came here to get stuff to go but that didn't justify the sluggish service. Nevertheless, it is still slightly acceptable. The brisket was somewhat dry, unfortunately this was the second pastrami or brisket we had and the previous one we had was really really good, even thought it was to go, and eaten at the train station. Bread provided was not enough for the brisket. Fries was adequate enough to keep full. All in all the balance was off, price point high and taste was average at best.
Opened about 5-6 months ago. Called to get a pickup order and was ready within 5 minutes of my call. View photos of the place, looks new, cozy and lots of room! Free wifi and has a mini bar. Also has a few comfortable sofa/lounge chairs to chill and have a beer. Worth checking out!
In town for a conference and wanted some poutine. The portion I got was plenty, also tried the mushrooms. The stuff coming out of the kitchen looked amazing as it went by, and everything seemed to come really fast even with only one person serving. I’m not sure I would have recognized it walking by if someone hadn’t recommended it because it doesn’t stand out from the street. Overall great food and a great experience.
Nice an clean place but definitely totally overpriced for what they serve. A super basic cesar salad is listed $21 on the menu. Beer is also a bit over average price. Nothing there that can justify such high prices.
Got a small smoke meat sandwich for take out. I ate the sandwich within 5 minutes ... This is what 11$ not including tax or tip gets you gets you... See attached picture. Having been to practically every smoke meat joint in Montreal here are my thoughts: Texture: Rubbery... Chewy... Dry. From my experience smoke meat practically falls apart or melts in your mouth, and is moist/juicy. Flavor: I felt the meat lacked flavor... Quite bland actually. Had to squirt mustard on for some taste. From the Smoke meat I have had in the past, each bite would burst with flavor, barely requiring any mustard. Value: it's expensive for what you get. Ambiance looked nice. Didn't stay as I was only picking up. Personally, as a Montreal local, I believe there are other options in the city.
Wow. New restaurant, new location, new decor, and it's all amazing! You'll feel as if you were right in the streets of Montréal while eating, with various scenery elements depicting different key neighborhoods. Decent portions, and close to Place des Festivals and Quartier Latin. Friendly service will help you all the way through your meal. Take out available if you work in the area. Try the Dragon burger or the Angus flank steak poutine. You can't go wrong with the classic Briskets poutine or club either. Will definitely go back!
Poutine, as a national dish, is disappointing, being just cheesy chips with gravy. Poor vegetarian choice available.
Service and food is amazing!!!! The smoked medium fatty meat is crazy
I am regularly in Montréal for work, and I am always on the lookout for for the world famous Montréal smoked meat, so when I saw it on the menu, it was an easy decision to make. It was great! As I walked in, I was greeted at the door, only to learn later it was the owner. That is great hospitality! They had a good selection of beer available, which is the second thing on my list after a smoked meat sandwich. I can highly recommend to all.
It was a quiet night so I had much of the restaurant to myself. The waiter was very helpful. When I couldn't decide between the Brisket sandwich and the Brisket Poutine he offered to make a small size order of the Poutine to go with my sandwich! For the win!
