We loved our experience at Braven tonight. Karen was our server, what amazing lady she was, we enjoyed our evening even more with her serving us. Our steaks were perfect, our sides were amazing. We didn't expect the food to be the portions they were, definitely we should of orders less sides than we did. But everything we had was perfect. On the down side, we only booked this location because of the cheesecake that we saw online, we were disappointed to know this was off the menu months ago. It is very hard to find desserts that are worth it in Edmonton. We did instead get the Key Lime Pie which ended up being a new favorite of ours in Edmonton. We will definitely come back for the desserts. Please bring back your cheesecake.
Braven is one of our favourite place for celebrations. I can't count on how many times I have been to this restaurant. I love the ambience here, they have great staff and the foods are beautiful and scrumptious. Another thing I love about is the parking. They offer free parking for 3 hours on a non-event day and it's an indoor parking. Come here for a special ocassion and I recommend to order their Sundae as that is one of their signature dessert.
First time at Braven. Drink recommendations were great, service was great Melanie. Anyone else who came by was very friendly and polite. Appetizers were good, steak tartare and the smoked salmon. The pasta was great, the beef short rib was good. I’ve had better short rib but it was decent. For a slower night, I would’ve expected the short rib to be quite warm but it was slightly on the cooler side and a smidge overcooked for my liking but it was still very tender. I feel it could have a bit more flavour as well but it was still good. Short rib gets a 7/10 with room to be a 10/10 one day. Key lime pie was 10/10. Nice decor, relaxing spot. Overall a good visit and great service.
We had a great meal and experience. The food was on par with any high end steak house. Our server was on point and put up with our mild drunkenness. We sat at the grill bar and had a good time. As many of you know, high end steak houses all have the same high quality food for the most part. The staff was cool and a cool atmosphere, that’s why I say 5 star. Would definitely recommend.
Service: 5/5 Food: 4/5 Vibe: 4.5/5 Price: 3.5/5 It's our third time going to Braven. The food was something you expect from them. Great qualityof service. I wish the steak came with more sides or at least more options. The music was a little loud and was not at the level of such a restaurant. Overall the quality is good and I believe 4 start is fair! Cheers.
Although I did not actually dine inside their restaurant, from what I saw it is quite beautiful with a nice ambiance. Their patio is nice, but will be even better when the area construction is completed. We started with their Truffle Fries, which I HIGHLY recommend. I ordered the Lamb Sirloin I love lamb that comes with a delicious side of broccolini and a deviled tomato. Unfortunately, my lamb came on the more well done side instead of medium/medium rare.. although still delicious, this was a bit of a downer as it did effected the flavour of the dish and the server didn’t really offer to do anything about it. Considering the plate costs $40 and this is a 5-star hotel restaurant, I would have expected at least a suggested solution or even compensation for sticking with the plate. We also ordered their Smoked Boneless Beef Short Rib that is paired with mash potatoes and broccolini. The meat was packed with flavour and was extremely well smoked! I was super excited to try their Phyllo Wrapped Cheese Cake for dessert, but sadly the server failed to alert us that their was also a last call for food and not just drinks. That was a bit of a bummer, but if I do visit again, the cheese cake will definitely be on my list of things to order! As I mentioned, considering this is a restaurant in a 5-hotel I was expecting a higher quality of service from not just the server but even the host at the door. However, I like to give people the benefit of the doubt, so it’s possible they are a bit rusty from being closed for a while.
Very expensive place. Two adults two kids spend $346 on a Mother’s Day dinner and I was on diet otherwise I might have ordered another hundred dollars of food. Servers are courteous. Food are okay- lambs and beef rib are good. Can’t say the same about appetizers.
We were here for a private dinner party in one of the private rooms. The main course, the sirloin, came to my table less than hot. Also, there was no sauce with the steak, so the plate was quite dry. I was a bit disappointed in this being we paid $100. I would have preferred to replace this main meal with something at a less expensive restaurant. The cheesecake, although a unique recipe, was ok. If I was paying $100 for my meal, that included the tip, I would expect better quality in the food.
Please note that I am not bashing the restaurant and I did not "hate" my food, just throwing my honest opinion out there for people to read. Braven is really nice, located at a new premium location, inside the Ice District. The renovations were great, a bit dark to even read the menu which is a nice rare scene in Edmonton. We have been to Braven's lounge/bar a couple of times before Oilers games, and we always loved their drinks yes, it is a bit pricy, but location location location. Two of us ate at the restaurant on this particular night. We have been wanting to try Braven since the pandemic. We ordered the Seafood Platter, Ribeye steak, and the Smoked Ribs. We ordered the Braven Sangria, which is one of our favorite drinks. We arrived at the door and the hostess at the front addressed us right away, and we were seated in a short couple of minutes. The restaurant is beautifully renovated, the mood was great, but it was extremely loud. The restaurant echoes noises pretty badly, and we can barely hear each other as there was a few rowdy tables around us. The server was very polite and courteous, however, lacks the service of a high end fine dining restaurant. In fact, the experience was more like Joey's, or even a regular brew house. While I don't feel the servers are properly trained for fine dining, our server was extremely polite and we loved her. The first plate was the seafood platter. The Oysters were very very small might not be in season??, and the Steak Tartar was very soggy. Although we were not happy with the food, the presentation was very nice. Then came the entrees. The server that dropped off our food was not our regular server, and he dropped off our food, zero eye contact, and we said thank you and he just turned away. The gentleman appears to be younger, and definitely not well trained. When a client say thank you, the worst you can do is turn your back on them. But again... it was really loud... maybe he didn't hear us...... Our main course: Ribeye Steak. No surprises. Just a steak that was like any other steak you can have at most other restaurants. It was definitely not worth the $68, as there wasn't anything spectacular about the steak. There were some asparagus under the steak and they seems to be unseasoned. It was not a bad steak at all, but we were expecting something more spectacular like..... the Ruth Chris T-Bone steak. One thing we noticed was that the plates were served hot, but the plates cooled down extremely quickly, which was unable to keep our food warm, The Smoked Boneless Beef Short ribs.... This was the disappointment. The ribs was dry on one side, the sauce were great, but the dish got boring extremely quick. I am a huge foody, so I almost always finish my food, but I was unable to finish the ribs, as it was really tough to chew on, my mouth was tired from all the chewing and it got boring really quickly. Our overall experience with the restaurant is fair. It is rare to have a high end restaurant in our city so the location and the renovations were really appreciated. Braven is still young, and while we did not have a great experience with the food, it is a great place to visit and have a drink with friends.
Cannot say enough great things about our experience with Alicia! She was absolutely fabulous. She took time to explain the menu/what some fan faves are and her recommendations did not disappoint. We’ll definitely be back!
