I went to the Brantford Emergency Department around 6:30 PM after being referred by my family walk-in clinic for severe chest pain radiating to my left arm, along with high blood pressure 166/88 and a heart rate of 127. This kind of pain was new to me, and I was genuinely afraid.nThe triage team took my vitals, did blood work, and performed an ECG, which I appreciated. But after that, I was left in the waiting area for over nine hours with no communication or updates. The first three hours were the worst. I was in intense pain and dizzy, and had to walk up to the triage nurse myself to ask for pain relief. I was left sitting in a chair the entire time with no support.nThe waiting room was freezing cold, like being inside a freezer, and I became more unwell as the hours passed. Eventually, I was moved inside, but still with no explanation or care plan provided. Finally, at 5:00 AM, a doctor told me that all results were fine and to follow up with my family doctor. After nearly 11 hours in severe pain and fear, I felt completely dismissed and neglected.nThis experience has shaken my trust in the emergency system. If I face another emergency in the future, I honestly don’t feel safe coming back here. Not because I want to avoid care, but because I feel like I won’t receive it. People don’t go to the ER to bother staff we go because we have no choice.nIf I could give 0 stars, I would. I truly hope the quality of care at this hospital improves. Patients deserve to be treated with urgency, respect, and compassion.
Last night my partner and I broke up a fight between two dogs and ended up both of us needing emergency care - and true care is what we were shown. We were lucky that it was a relatively quiet night in the ER, and we were seen so quickly. It was less than two hours from walking in bleeding everywhere to walking out bandaged up and feeling so much better. Everyone from the triage nurses to the doctors who stitched us up, to the folk in the x-ray dep't - all of them were true professionals. Caring friendly faces and kind hearts all of them. We are beyond grateful to everyone who saw to us. So many thanks to all of you!!
I just left the hospital after getting a few stitches, in and out in four hours, and it was honestly a wonderful experiencennI saw on Google maps that they were getting bad reviews so I wanted to leave one of my ownnnEveryone connotations about wait times but it's not their fault, I saw nurses telling to have quick snacks in between tasks, they're working so hard there. They were doing their best to keep a smile on their face, and it's hard. It's not a play place, people aren't having a great time.nnBut the staff there work as hard as they can, and have as much fun as they can. I don't know what everyone wants from them but I had a delightful time getting my stitches, so to speak.nYou want to go back to the 1890s? Hi to the barber for leeches? Where's the gratitude peoplenThank you Brantford General
I would give them 0 Stars if possible. Worst hospital experience every time. Most of the staff just sit there and look at the computer or talk to each other rather than take care of patients. The staff kept us waiting in a room and later said that the next shift will take care of us. The new staff after the shift change would say they have no clue on what is happening so we would have to wait for few more hours. If ur lucky u might get checked or u might be stuck in the never ending shift change excuses.
I understand the current state of medical care in Ontario. The doctors and nurses are doing the best they can with what they have for medical treatment.nBut as I sit here at 12:03am beside my mother who’s only respite from her pain is the time she manages to fall asleep. The staff couldn’t be any louder, and not medical discussions. Personal ones.nEither way, keep the volume down. I understand your on night shift and it’s the middle of your day but consider your patients.
