Boothill Junction Boots & Repairs

This was the most bizarre and awkward encounter with a shoe repair person in history of mankind. I arrived with a pair of men's leather dress shoes, asking if I could get these shined. To be sure, these are not $1500 Italian leather shoes, but neither were they the disposable brand. I have had these for years, and gotten them shined wherever I can when I travel as I don't carry my own shoe shine material. Anyways, what I got in answer from this guy was quite literally a 5-minute diatribe on why my shoes were "poor quality" both in construction and material, that he "feels sad" that I paid a "pretty penny for them" and how he wouldn't be able to do anything about them to make them look better. Odd, because I didn't ask his opinion of them, nor did I ever mention how much these cost. He offered that maybe he could fix the heels. Again, odd because there was nothing wrong with the heels, and all I asked for was a basic shoe shine, like I had done either myself or at shoe repair shops dozens of times across the country. If shining a pair of shoes is too far below him, then he could have just said he doesn't do them, instead of trying to demonstrate his godly knowledge of superior dress shoe making. For a decrepit shop in the middle of a parking lot in an unknown spot of Port Moody of all places, the level of snobbery blew me away.

I took my boots to get Vibram soles put on. He was professional, fast, and the work was well done. I’ve had the boots for over three years and there’s been no problems.

Broke the zipper in my motorcycle boot. It was a tuff fix and he finished in no time at all. Best part was the reasonable price.
