About

The Bonavista Social Club is a new food production outlet located in the small community of Upper Amherst Cove on the Bonavista Peninsula. Owned and operated by Katie and Shane Hayes.

Story

The Bonavista Social Club harnesses the established farm gardens, animal husbandry and self-sufficient lifestyle presently at work in Upper Amherst Cove, to provide a truly unique experience of rural Newfoundland. It is home to the only commercial wood-fired bread oven in Newfoundland and Labrador. The bread oven is the centrepiece of an open kitchen where customers can experience the production process. Breads such as rye, sourdough, baguette, multigrain and bagels are baked daily. Lunches are available daily including pizza, soup, salad and sandwiches with fresh ingredients from the gardens in Upper Amherst Cove.

A must do while visiting Bonaviata peninsula and Trinity Bay Area. We enjoyed a delicious fire roasted custom pizza, a moose burger and their rightfully famous rhubarb lemonade from the cutest rustic wooden table overlooking a ice-filled sun-kissed bay. Take a stroll through their beautiful vegetable and herb garden while soaking up the traditional east coast love feels.

The trip out here is worth it for the view alone, but the food is also great. A stunning view overlooking the water and the vegetable gardens and sheeps pen. The wood oven pizza is excellent and the atmosphere is amazing. Watched whales while we ate. Heard about this place on our trip around Newfoundland from people in both St John's and Rocky Harbour so it must be the spot!

I love the Bonavista social club. They have a great menu which includes many items that contains local ingredients (most of which is grown right outside the restaurant). You have a choice to eat inside or outside. The restaurant overlooks a bay where it is not uncommon to see whales (summer). I enjoy the wood fired pizzas.
