It was one week to get my Simplicity lawn tractor serviced and a new drive belt installed. I phoned a couple times about when it would be done. It is an older model I bought second hand and they were unable to tell me what the model number was so I could download a manual. I phoned Simplicity help desk and they could not help me determine the model number - it is no where on the unit. After almost $500 for service the rod holding the mower deck up came loose on the second time I cut the lawn. I phoned the dealer and the service guy says they would not have removed that rod even though he says they would have removed the mower deck. I managed to get a manual that might match my tractor and to remove the deck that rod has to be removed. It came loose out of one side. There should have been a cotter pin or clip in it. The service guy told me they could send someone out at $100 / hr but that they are busy. He told me 2 weeks ago they were very busy. I think they didn't put the cotter or clip pin in. Now that I have a manual I will try to put that rod back in place so that I can raise and lower the deck properly. No help from the dealer after they got my money, unless I wanted to spend more money. I might buy a new lawn tractor - won't be from them, even though I'm only a couple miles away. I'll drive further to a John Deere dealer. Update- I searched the Internet and after trial and error got my manual. It clearly shows the rod that came loose should have a clip in it. I managed to get it back in place (with the help of the info in the manual) and put a clip to hold it in. I then went out and cut the grass. Works good again. I welcome the opportunity to speak with staff from this dealership about this issue.
