Very unique and cool concept. Tons of board games to choose from, great menu with cocktails, local beers, juices and cafe options. The food menu is great, good for snacking with friends or even a meal, we had the bbq chicken flatbread and the margarita which were both pretty good. Tuesday is half price playing $3 each. The best part for me was how friendly and knowledgeable the staff was, we had no idea how to play the game we picked, and the staff came up without asking and helped us and even checked up after a few rounds to make sure we were getting the full experience. Great place and best of its kind.
We love Boardwalk! My kids frequently request it for "Mom dates." We order the small bowls of candy and popcorn and make an afternoon out of trying fun new and old board games. The staff is super friendly and helpful. It's a great place to hang out in our community.Dietary restrictions accommodatedNot sure
Though the food selection is a bit more limited than a traditional restaurant, the food is great. There are over 300 board games available to play and if you don't know how to play a game the staff do and they are willing to take the time to help you learn to play it. It can get pretty busy, so booking a reservation might be a good idea but it's not necessary unless you want to use one of the private back rooms.
Great game selection, standard snacks available. Great vibes for indoor time with friends
An incredibly cool concept to be able to enjoy a wide variety of games while having some snacks! The milkshakes were well made, and candy flight was a fun order. They had an overwhelming amount of games to pick from, but staff were able to help recommend a few options based on party size!
I normally don’t post reviews on things but I feel like it needs to be said I went there for the first time and ordered the nachos and sadly after taking a bite pulled a hair out of my mouth that 100% wasn’t mine. They took the nachos off the bill thankfully but i don’t plan on going back after that. The person in the kitchen wasn’t wearing any head wear from what I could see, working in a kitchen you gotta wear a hair net or at least a chef hat to help prevent hair from going in the food. The board games are fun and the staff are nice people.. just unfortunate that happened.
We love Boardwalk, and have supported them as best we can through the pandemic—they're the only boardgame cafe in Abbotsford at the time of writing this review. Boardwalk serves local food and drink, has a super chill/friendly atmosphere, and have a fantastic selection of games to pick from. Their games are usually sorted by play style, and include cooperative, versus, strategy, and more. It's up to you to find one at your skill level, however if you ask any of the employees, they are more than happy to help recommend or teach a game to you! Boardwalk also hosts an assortment of different events; some on a weekly basis and others sporadically. For example, they'll host a team puzzle challenge or miniature paint night on occasion, but Sundays they reserve tables for D&D groups. Boardwalk runs on a coverage fee system: whether you play games off their shelf or bring your own, you pay a small coverage fee per person. Any charges after that are for food/drink, or other purchases. At the time of writing this, the cover fee I believe is $6, but is somewhat subject to inflation. Family-friendly Bring your own games, or play theirs Accessibility: there are stairs at the door, making this not ideal for wheelchair users As with most establishments that provide it, don't bring your own food/drink Parking: Parallel parking can be found in front of the store itself, and down the street just up the hill—both are time restricted, but I've never had a problem. It's also easy to walk up from the lot down the street along the railway, as well as additional street parking around the block behind the store.
It was fun. Great selection of games. I'd love to try going back with a different group of people. It was a touch noisy/less private than I'd hoped, but private rooms are available $Food: 4/5

We as a family love this place, the owners are so friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable about almost all the games they have. Food, snacks, and drinks are always well done and great value. Definitely the best game cafe and you won't wanna go elsewhere when you've gone hereFood: 5/5
