Absolute worst bmo you could ever go to. I had the exact same experience as guillaume (must be the same woman) they are absurdly slow and they pretty much treat you like a criminal being questionned by a detective for a simple transaction that just about any other institution will have completed for you in 1-2 minutes without any issues

The BMO website speaks of small business banking plan in which you can "PAY-AS-YOU-GO", and on which you can "ADD" or "Layer on top" a banking plan of your choice with prices ranging from 6$ to the highest plan being variable (22$ to 135$). I presented myself and requested an account with NO PLAN, because I am willing to accept the transaction fees that come with PAY-AS-YOU-GO. Their appeared to be confusion, I was told you can't get an account without a plan; I argued siting the website's content and was finally issued the account WITHOUT a PLAN. Being a start up, I had no plans for immediate transactions so I did not bother to look at statements since I chose to PAY AS I GO, and I wasn't GOING yet. It appears BMO has a very different take on PAY-AS-YOU-GO. If you chose the option of not taking a plan, the cheapest being 6$/month, you are rewarded for signing up with them by getting a monthly administration fee. Take a lucky guess as to how much BMO charges MONTHLY for entering a single record in theirs Accounts. Would you believe that to get PAY-AS-YOU-GO costs .... drum roll .... 6$/Month. They want to blame their employee for not explaining this. The fact is, I argued with the employee. How was she supposed to defend that the options are PAY-AS-YOU-GO at 6$/Month OR Basic plan of 7 transactions free at 6$/Month. In all fairness, had I downloaded their 20 page “Better banking guide for business” of convoluted and often incomplete fee explanations in which almost 1 out of 20 sentences ends with a note number in exponent form, I might have been able to make sense of the Fees. After all the 6.00$ Administration fee does appear on page 12 as a item named “Monthly Account Administration Fee” under a HEADING called “Account debit per transaction” with a little (1) in exponent of course. But then, WHY doesn’t it state anywhere in the plans “Account administration fees” FREE. When I read this lengthy and ill structured document, I conclude that a Current Business Account with their cheapest plan therefore costs 12$/month. To be honest, after rereading everything to document this rant properly, I no longer really know how much I am supposed to pay. The representatives of the Ile Perrot branch issued a credit for the fees and the assistant manager took my complaint seriously and contacted me. I have to acknowledge that in my mind, NONE of the employees or the branch management are at fault here. They are doing their best dealing with something that is absolutely ridiculous and decided upon by much higher ranking and overly paid individuals. We are overdue for a new BANKS in Canada that will challenge the existing BIG BANKS and stop this ridiculous billing for what I call WIND. I am likely going to give them another chance because frankly our banks are presently almost all the same and they love to compare themselves as justification for gouging Canadians. That is like one criminal saying he isn’t so bad because the other criminal stole a bit less. I am pondering about writing to the consumer protection agency and their ombudsman if they have one.

Total fail! Upon entering I could not believe my eyes that every teller was open and they all greeted me with a smile. That was where the capacity to service ended for me. Unable to do a post dated deposit, the teller spoke with the manager who also either did not know how, or could not be bothered. So I left. When you can’t do basic service why open?
