I recently visited the Emergency Department and was seen for an issue requiring diagnostic imaging. Despite the well-known long wait times across the Canadian healthcare system, I was pleased that my experience, from registration to final results, was completed in a respectable 6-8 hours, which is much faster than expected and better than larger city hospitals.nThe staff, nurses, and doctors were professional, thorough, and provided excellent care, managing to coordinate a CT scan and an ultrasound on the same day, with results delivered within two hours of the final test. This efficiency for diagnostic testing was a significant positive.nHowever, a serious issue was the initial process: patients must take a number and wait to see triage. A 45-minute wait just to be assessed by a nurse is, in my opinion, dangerous and unacceptable. If a patient is presenting with time-sensitive symptoms like stroke or heart attack indicators, this initial delay could have critical consequences.nOverall, the care provided once I was admitted into the system was outstanding, but the front-end triage process requires an urgent operational review to ensure patient safety.nn4 stars for overall experience, minus 1 for the initial triage experience.nnNot bad Sarnia! Just fix that Emergency triage and you are doing great.
Went to this hospital by ambulance to then be put in the emergency waiting room while feeling more sick than I have my entire life. I have been profusely sweating and feeling aa though I am 1000 degrees hot. Not literally but. I asked for an ice pack because they didn't offer me anything as I'm profusely sweating, feeling very nauseous because I am extremely hot. I finally get called back to a room where they gave me Tylenol and Advil after I kept telling them I was feeling very nauseous and overheating a lot. I told them I can't keep pills down. Everytime I take them I end up throwing up almost immediately after I take them This just shows that nurses don't actually listen to you. The nurse came in, gave me medications by pill, the Tylenol and the Advil. Figures right. Another nurse came in to bring me for xrays. After I was done the xrays which that wasn't long at all. I was brought back to the room I was in. I started feeling nauseous which I already knew was going to happen because it's happened every time I've tried to take my medication. Keep in mind, the entire time I was at the hospital my temperature never got even the slightest bit colder. I was still incredibly nauseous. They were pretty much pressuring me to take the nausea medication that I took last time. I was trying to tell the doctor and the nurse that I was given this same medication last time I was here and I got nauseous and puked because of the taste. I asked if I could get some ginger ale and a blanket but was denied both things. I ended up leaving because not only were the staff arrogant as hell towards me but very dismissive as well. The doctor told me that because my vitals were normal they had no reason to keep me there. I'm sorry but how do you have no reason to keep me here to help me when you can see that I have been profusely sweating and overheating like crazy. I told them I was nauseous and it just kept feeling like it was getting worse. I am so overheated that I have to sit in front of a fan 24 7 or I immediately start overheating and feeling very nauseous. I was waiting by the doors for my ride because at this point I just wanted to go home. They had three big security guys come outside and tell me to go sit out on the bench. Why do you guys feel the need to have three big security guards. What am I going to do? First off I am a good six inches shorter than them and weight maybe half as much as them. This hospital is nothing but a joke. I feel worse than I do then when I went there. Almost all of the staff they are extremely arrogant. The last two times I was there I was treated like crap and basically told they can't do anything. When they did do something it didn't help at all. I am never going to this piece of crap hospital again.
Would like to thank all the nurses and doctors that took excellent care of my adult son with Down syndrome whose blood pressure dropped very low. He is non verbal, but they were able to treat him and get him back to a healthy place. Thank you all so much for your dedication
If 0 stars was possible that is the rating I would be giving. To some not all but, some staff there. You are front line workers and can’t even be bothered to actually do your job properly? My ELDERLY grandmother was staying here. I can’t even count on both of my hands how many times she had wet herself because the nurses put off getting her to the bathroom. She was not mobile and couldn’t get around by herself. I understand it’s a hard job but, you make a mistake and apologize for it and there’s no change? Most staff act stuck up and rude to patients and get away with it? You’re not all that because you work a 12 hour shift. 12 hours of nothing because you can’t even do your job properly. To all the experiences I’ve had with nurses within the hospital I haven’t had a single good experience. Staff is rude and I think rude is an understatement. Needs are never met and I understand how hard it is or maybe I don’t? But you work in a place where people are sick, vulnerable and at worse even dying. And you show nothing but disrespect and rudeness to your patients and their families? Do better.
Completely sub par - a long standing reputation. Nurses in ER are rude, on night shifts they don’t check on patients for hours that they’ve tossed in the back to wait. What if someone passed out, had a major medical issue?! They’d have no idea. They don’t bring water, nothing. They sit at their station gossiping and playing on phones. This has long been an issue here, no one changes the culture despite all the complaints. Go to London if you are able.
