This is a cafeteria style restaurant. A good place to have a quick meal before you start your garden journey. There are several different choices on hot/cold drinks, salads, main dishes and desserts. The portions are decent, but the prices are apparently overpriced.
The food was ok, I like the dessert. Very cool architecture though, friendly staff as well
Cool architecture but cafeteria level food
We tried the Blue Poppy for the first time a couple days ago while visiting the holiday lights at the gardens. I was impressed. I had the salmon on a bed of spiced lentils, with cubes of squash, and topped with sour cream and fresh dill. The salmon was slightly overcooked for my taste, but otherwise the meal was delicious! We asked if there was anything available for my vegan husband. The staff went to check and then said the chef would be happy to make a vegan version for him. Very pleasant and helpful staff. The atmosphere is a bit like a nicely decorated cafeteria. We both enjoyed it and will go back.
After our good experience at the Blue Poppy in Butchart Gardens Aug 2017, we just had to write a review to counter the many negative reviews here. We are not easily satisfied diners, so a favorable review does not come easy. We choose it as the alternative to the more expensive main Dining Room. This is not really a cafeteria. Yes, you stand in line to order and pick up some of the food like desserts. But the entrees are prepared fresh in the kitchen. We ordered and split a spinach salad and an Asian noodle dish, each full meals, and were very pleased. They were neither bland nor uninteresting, as some reviewers commented about the food in general. We sat next to a couple who ordered great-looking steaks, who were very happy with them. The service at the table was just right, and the man who took our order came by to ask how we liked the food.
Food was good but expensive for a cafeteria like experience. Thus while the flavours we're good, the food was like warm and by the time one lined up and paid for it and found a table it was less than a stellar meal for two . At $75 for 2 entries , 1 salad and 1 dessert to share , it didn't feel like a great value relative to other establishments in Victoria. Flavour profiles were very good though.
Absolutely bland food.. it's almsot feels like no effort was made to provide to tasteful dinning experience. Ordered the Signature Valley Chicken, Butter Chicken and Beef Dip Sandwich, servings were stingy and tasted like plastic. Around $20 per head for really half a meal. Donate the money, don't waste it here.
Their menu was WAY over priced. My experience was ordering a Crispy chicken sandwich which comes with a green salad. I recieved a deep fried piece of breaded chicken in a bun... that's all. No tomato, or lettuce or anything... Just chicken in a bun. And the green salad was just mixed greens that you can get in a pack from a grocery store container and a great deal was rotten. It was 17$.
Everything was plain and simple, not too many choices, but cooked well.
Extremely bland, highly over-priced food served in a very unappealing environment. The only good thing was friendly staff. *Make reservations ahead of time at The Dining Room* or eat at Coffee Shop.
