Definitely has the diner vibe. Lots of teens around and working which translated to not the best service. Took quite a bit of time to get our check. The food was generous, the potatoes were good and stood out. Pancakes seemed a little dry or bland. Overall I'd say the food was an average affair while the service could've been better.
THE BOMB! Generous portions and flavorful and they thought of everything! Even the ketchup for my to go order for my hash browns. I will definitely tell anyone who'll hear it to go and they will for surely see me again. Thank you Blue Bird and my boyfriend who bought me breakfast! Went on a breakfast date with my wife on Veterans Day. We don't usually come up this way and we didn't realize there was a parade happening. Parking was a challenge to find because of it. Pros: -Great waitstaff, super friendly -Supersized large portions -Housemade food - always reminiscent of grandma's cooking -Super flavorful, no need to add salt or pepper -Freeflow pour sugar on the table alongside sugar packets! -Sweet tea option available! Important to me as a southern woman! -Fun atmosphere, very much an old school diner -They take cash and card! -They have a super cute lunch counter with swivel stools -They have housemade cinnamon rolls that are bigger than your head -They offer a punch card and veterans get double punches! Cons: -Parking can be a challenge -You seat yourself, but if its super busy you're left kind of looking around ready to "vulture" a table -Service is a little slow, but honestly I'm ok with it because I know they are fresh making my plate. -They don't serve dinner. -They close at 3. Food: -The food was incredible. Very stick to your ribs. The menu has old school selections such as liver and onions, hamburger steak and omg the BEST mashed potatoes around! We had breakfast this time and I had the eggs benny and she had the biscuits and gravy. The biscuits were fluffy and gravy was perfect. The eggs benny was amazing, great hollandaise! The potatoes were fried perfect, and you can add your choice of brown gravy or sausage gravy. Overall it is such a neat little place with excellent food. Just make sure when yiu go, you wear your best stretchy pants! Parking: Free parking along the street or down the road a bit in the free public parking lot. Harder to find a nearby spot during peak hours or events.
This is a charming cafe. The food was very good. I had a cup of the best clam chowder I've eaten in years. The service was spectacular. Our waitress was great.Food: 5/5
*Updated Review* Based on my in-person experience yesterday Monday* I walk in no one, I mean no one acknowledged my presence upon arrival. Three waitresses were working within 3 feet of my direction. They all quickly glanced over at me and not once welcomed me inside or asked if I wanted to be seated. I heard a kitchen staff member tell the waitress’ to help me & one lady ignored her and continued talking to a customer. I've never been made to feel so uncomfortable at any restaurants I've visited in Arlington. I dined in a few months back & I was greeted very warmly and my presence was acknowledged. So after about 15 minutes, one lady asked for the name of the pickup order that needed bagging. She seemed confused. She was finally bagging my order walked towards my direction and didn't say not one word to me seemed very cold and didn't make eye contact. At this point, I didn't even want to take the food from a business that doesn't appreciate local customers. I felt like I should have never walked in. No one not a single soul said Hello to me upon entering the establishment. You've lost my business. You shouldn't make a possible customer feel unwelcome when arriving at your establishment. No*customer service skills here what's worst is all waitresses here are in their late 40s & 50s. Months back fiancé & I dined inside we've never got treated so poorly! What's changed?! If I could give this cafe zero I most certainly would do so. I can't believe how you treat local customers. The order was for my fiancé. I was picking it up for him since he was working.
Such a cute old school shop with a taste that will about knock you out of your seat. I got the BLT croissant with side salad and my husband got the Philly cheesesteak also just perfectly put together. Yum!!
First off the nachos definitely passed the taste test for my fiancee who ordered them. She said those were the best ever she has had. Everything tasted fresh and perfectly seasoned and the chips also were fresh. I ordered the fire in the hole burger and it lived up to the name lol. Really good burger and the fries were great. First time for us both there and we enjoyed it. Definitely will come back for more. Thank you
Great service and friendly staff. I ordered a Chicken Sandwich on a bun, with Cheese and Bacon also Sweet Potato Fries and a Coke. One of the best Chicken Sandwiches I've had in a long time. A lot of meat. Big it was a little pricey, but worth every penny. I'm definitely going back for more.Food: 5/5
Was able to choose our booth, several were open at 9am on Sunday. Took approximately 10 minutes for the waitress to take our order, it didn’t seem particularly busy so I was a bit surprised by the wait time. Probably took 20-25 minutes to get food. Large portions of food was nice, the scrambled eggs were a bit cold though. Everything else was good though French toast, pancakes, biscuits and gravy.
They have really gone up in food quality lately...! That was one of the best breakfasts I have had in a long time. Love the hand formed sausage patties and blueberries inside the waffles instead of just sitting on top...! I will start going there more often. Kid-friendliness: Kids love the strawberry waffles here.
