This review is solely based on the driving ranges golf balls. I've hit better golf balls that were sitting for years in a water hole. For $20.00 a large bucket with tip, I'd expect golf balls that are in good condition. At least 50%4 The range though is beautiful and wide open allow many golfer to practice with space. Just buy some new balls please.
The golf course is not too long and not too difficult, you can play golf with hands cart. Some courses have small trails that are cute and pretty to look at, so I felt very fresh feeling, and good throughout the course. The ground is not too difficult, so I would recommend it to those who enjoy golf by walking.
Played Bloomington Downs in September of 2021 and it's the all rounder of GTA courses that I've played. It's reasonably priced, it's got decent carts, the conditioning is fair in the fairways and the greens are good, new blue tee boxes on the front nine add distance punishment for those who enjoy such things, it has mild elevation changes to keep your interest, it has mature trees that pull your ball towards them, it's got decent sand bunkers and enough water features where you can outright donate balls, there are nice putting practise areas and the driving range is huge for a golf course, the parking lot is roomy, the entrance from Bloomington Rd is now is well marked, haven't tried the food yet but it's there. And the course grows a variety of big and small weird mushrooms. Keeps me coming back, maybe you'll like it too by the way, you might need a rangefinder to make sure you get your distances correct, I used my watch and was glad that I did.
The driving range is excellent for the avid golfer. Great putting area. The chipping green could be better but effective. Driving range has ample hit slots and does not feel claustrophobic. The complex and landscaping is kept with a lot of pride. Amble parking! And the type of patrons respect the game and fellow players. Excellent value in a low stress setting.
I have been coming here for years n found this golf course very enjoyable. It has lost that good homey feeling. It was always well kept and the staff were so friendly n welcoming. Now after Covid with all these renovations, it has become a tedious golf golf n leaves me with no feeling....just another silly course. First, the new tee offs are hard as cement- a massive turn off. The grounds are no better than b4. Some of the whites are shortened to make a Blue. How many 'champs' are using the Blues. Count them on 1 hand. The pub on the side is an improvement. Occasionally one can get an undercooked hot dog /sausage/burger but still an improvement. There is no joy in the faces of the staff. Why?? Come to grips with the above n fill the place up again. Reprising would not hurt either. A Once Happy Golfer
The Reno’s are nice and greens, fairways very good but they could improve a couple of things. 1: bunker rakes are like from a kids sand box. Invest in some real ones. 2: They have the nerve to Charge for a cart that has not seen soap and water ever they are filthy. Let’s improve the overall experience.
Pretty good golf course, but also quite open and not a lot of sand or water traps. Fairways are more forgiving and open. Roughs are tough and thick. When we played it was very wet, so the greens were slow. Played on a weekend morning and not much waiting. Everyone at the club house was friendly and helpful. They also rent clubs if you are traveling and don't have one.
They took a booking for this Saturday, drove in from the city, arrived 30 min before our tee time and the placed was locked up. When we called there was voicemail saying they were closed for the season. No heads up at all. Very unprofessional, won't be coming back.
I have played this course quite a lot. got to check it out after the new tee box construction finished up and boy do I have a few things to say. First off... you guys need to utilize a starter. We had a tee time and the golfers who were supposed to be grouped with us tee'd off 9 minutes early even knowing they were doing so. Now there was an awkward extra group wedged into the schedule. Beyond this point there was a group of 5 ahead of them.... the marshal said that was strange and should not be allowed. The marshal also freaked out on me a bit for being "too close to the green" in my cart when I was obviously still in the fairway and there was no cart break signage to be seen. Maybe if you would mark it golfers would obey it... food for thought. Lastly, the tee boxes are like CONCRETE the ground at this course is INSANELY hard. The tee boxes being the absolute worst. Bring a mallet to hammer your tees down. Only 2 tee boxes were within an acceptable average softness. So quick recap. 1. Better signage for cart breakaway points. 2. A starter to keep golfers from ditching pairings and destroying pace of play or deciding to play as a 5some. 3. Do something about the concrete tee boxes It's literally ridiculous and over the course of a day destroying your pace of play. All in all I have enjoyed this course and I am fond of it. The layout is fun and easy to play. There are some things that need to be worked on though. at the price to play and ride in a cart... I think I will just pay a few extra dollars and play some more well maintained tracks. Still I hold out hope for this course to improve.
The Marshall was rude, rushed us along and offered unwanted “tips”. We were there on time and he barked at us that we could have started 10 minutes earlier because the foursome standing there wanted us to play ahead. We didn’t know that because we aren’t fortune tellers. Then he rushed us through the course, and we aren’t slow players. He offered a rude comment about one of our swings and frankly ruined the afternoon. We skipped a couple of holes because we were rushed along and didn’t feel at all comfortable just enjoying the game today. Won’t be back, that’s for sure.
