An undiscovered secret of Scarborough is this tucked away restaurant at Warden and Ellesmere! I was invited by a friend once and that's how I got introduced to this restaurant. Family run, very hospital and friendly environment. Food review: for appetizer, we had the most DELICIOUS bread sticks, coated with cheese and garlic. It was warm, crispy just the right touch and to die for! This was followed by the main course, which consisted of the blackened trout was absolutely delicious and filling! The fish was cooked just to the right tenderness. The steak with blue cheese sauce was absolutely superb! We munched it down in no time! The dessert was Italian theme, tartufo, raspberry in the center and chocolate exterior. Very rich and decadent. Overall, we had a fantastic meal here and more people need to try their food out! Improvement: the decor was a bit dated; Salad was non-descript.
My husband and I were celebrating our anniversary and wanted to try a new place. We came across the blackhorn Steakhouse to which we made reservations in advance. We arrived on a Thursday at 6:00 p.m. and the place was empty. We were greeted really well and we got to choose where we sat. We decided to order some drinks and saganaki-opa as the starter. I ordered a whiskey sour which was made very well and the saganaki tasted amazing. The table that started off with bread and pickles extremely well with this dish. For mains my husband ordered they're special which was steak wrapped with bacon and I had the shrimp and scallops and both were accompanied with soup or house salad. A negative was that to order a ceaser salad the upcharge was $6 which I found unreasonable considering it wasn't an outstanding salad. My dish was very good. It was flavorful and light just as I wanted. My husband ordered his steak and he found it to be a little bland and not as exciting as he hoped. Overall it was a good experience but I gave it a 4 because I found that the please seemed a little dated and it was quite dark during our time. And as it sits in a plaza the window looks out to a parking lot which leaves much to be desired for ambiance. Other than that the servers were good the kitchen was great and the food was all right. I think once is enough for experience. Parking: It's in a plaza with decent amount of parking.
We had my sons 16th birthday dinner here last weekend - party of 20 guests . The service was a little slow at first to be honest - but when the food started to come out - IT WAS WORTH THE WAIT! Every single item we ordered was devoured and we received only compliments on the portion sizes and taste. I would highly recommend this restaurant- total hidden gem. We will be back for sure ! Thank you!
Entrance very interesting? Big black wall of a door hard to notice, but I loved the cozy atmosphere. Unfortunately it closes at 9pm so you gotta have an early dinner to enjoy this hidden gem. Service : very kind lady loved the customer service as it was only us and another older gentleman dining inside. Told us that kitchen closes at 7:30 unfortunately when we arrived at 7:17 but is what it is. Apps : Calamari, one of the best ones I've had the batter is light and crisp not old oil like many chains. Referring to joeys the keg, Moxies that are usually hard and crispy 6/5 Ceaser salad that you can add with your entree for 7 bucks. It's good it's a salad lol. Yea light dressing includes a lemon what can you sad bad about a salad if it's done right 5/5 Entrees: Lamb chops: seasoning on point just right the roasted squash/carrots/potato's all good a tad bit oily but it's outside food. Unfortunately a lamb chop was overcooked but as I know kitchen was closing so he was probably tired. Ordered medium rare 12-14oz ribeye steak: It was a special they offered for 54 bucks included asparagus, broccoli, mushrooms, roasted potato/squash/carrot. With a 12oz ribeye. Though my server told me it could've been 14oz unfortunately the steak was one side thick one side thin so the thick side was a perfect medium but the thinner side was medium well. But flavors on point. Tldr : hidden gem of a steakhouse in Scarborough must try!
Good meal - New York strip tasty. Garlic bread yummy. Jumbo shrimp jumbo, though seemed a little dry. Apple caramel cheesecake very sweet, but I guess that shouldn't surprise. Service attentive. But I was a bit taken aback by the cost. Guess everything is going up.
The food out here is amazing. You should definitely try the garlic bread! We had ordered the seafood fettuccine and fillet mignon and both deserve a 5 star. The meat for fillet mignon was medium rare and tasted perfect! The Alfredo sauce in seafood Fettuccine was delicious. The shrimps and clams were fresh! Will definitely visit this place again.
Went to blackhorn steakhouse Saturday September 17 in the evening for a birthday. Have been there a couple times and just like always the food was absolutely amazing. Always consistent. She may be an oldie and she may be outdated but when you want great food and your with great people that what the place looks like doesn't matter. I've been too many steakhouses and even the most expensive and top steakhouses don't touch this place. I love my food steaks especially and being born and raised as a butcher I know my meat and blackhorn is at the top of my list
Great little Scarborough gem. Its decor is a bit dated but it feels like a place you've been going all your life. Food was excellent, prices reasonable and great service. Will go againFood: 5/5
This restaurant is our favourite! Incredible staff and the food is absolutely perfection! Always soooo fresh! Beautiful cooked! Variety for everyone! My kids love the chicken souvlaki the fish the steak. Anything you order is incredible! Ohhh the garlic bread WOW! This restaurant deserves 10 !!!!!!
Had a great time with my wife on Valentine's Day. The good was amazing. Due to the fact it was Valentine's Day, all the dishes were at least $10 more than the regular menu. Will come again, but maybe not on Valentine's Day LOL
