Iced latte and breakfast sandwich was so good! Breakfast sandwich had bacon, cheese, eggs and a secret sauce. It was sweet and tangy, almost like a hollandaise sauce. Whatever it was, it's absolutely delicious! Friendly staff and fast service. I'll definitely return for another!
The cutest little coffee shop that makes the perfect lattes every single time. They also have one of the best breakfast sandwiches both options - bacon as well as vegetarian I've ever had - along with exceptional service. I consider myself lucky to be living in the same neighbourhood!
Sandwich was delicious, loved the dijon mustard, but was dripping from how oily it was which I didn't like.Food: 3/5
The aesthetics of this cafe is nice and cozy, the music adds to it. I got a breakfast sandwich which is $8, and the English muffin was completely burnt on the inside. The sandwich tastes good, except for the fact that it was pretty much completely burnt. It may depend on who’s working on the shift.
"Gourmet" is the best word to describe this coffee shop. The breakfast sandwich is delicious and the coffee is always great. The service is always excellent and friendly. Note: they are cashless and close around 3 pm.Food: 5/5
Great spot for a well balanced americano and bacon breakfast sandwich and a large croissant -crispy on the outside, but soft layered flaky goodness inside!!! Far better alternative to the coffee chains. Especially during these times I feel its important to support local.
This is a great little shop. It was the first place I tried during a long weekend in Toronto and I ended up coming back here every morning. The menu is limited and simple but everything I had cortado, latte, breakfast sandwich was delicious and prepared very quickly. To be honest I prefer this over the sprawling menus of flavored drinks that a lot of places have. I appreciate simple things done well. Both employees I met were super friendly. One of them was the shop owner and rudely of me I didn't get his name! and he and I had some great conversation. Speaking of that, in case he reads this, I want to let him know that I did make my flight back to the US - but only by minutes - and yes, indeed, I did have to clear customs before the flight!
I can honestly say this is my favourite café in Toronto's west end, maybe even all of Toronto. Justin is so passionate about coffee and trains his baristas to have the same enthusiasm. The breakfast and 3-cheese sandwiches are to DIE for. The pictures I attached barely do the coffee justice - the custom roast they have is the best I've ever had. I met one of my best friends here, studied for exams, argued about everything, and I fell in love, too.
I've been mentally wanting to leave this review for some time now. Over the years I've been searching for the best breakfast sandwich in the city and I'm proud to say that after finding Black Cat Espresso Bar, I'm never looking back bye Wallace, sorry!. I'd ignore that 1 star review by the so-called "chef" below, I promise he has no idea what he's talking about. Among my friends, I am known as someone who takes her food very seriously - I live about a 50 minute walk from Black Cat and I venture all the way for their delicious sandwiches. Upon reading the 1 star I almost didn't stop by, but I thought I'd come have a sandwich and make my own decision, and boy am I glad I did. I've ordered both through Uber Eats and had them fresh, and the review simply does not apply. There is no such thing as too much truffle oil. This sandwich is dripping in cheese, meat, and full of bacon and toasted to perfection. The egg is the best I've ever had in a breakfast sandwich and definitely not boiled. I ordered two hours ago on Uber Eats and I'm just eating it now, and it's still not soggy. On top of that, the espresso is great, the staff is wonderful and kind, and it's just one of my favourite hidden gems. You know what, on second thought, maybe listen to this "chef" guy and don't come ruin my hidden gem :P.
Some constructive feedback - I was there on a weekday morning, and there were so many flies inside: Maybe keep the door closed if they’re coming from outside? What really bothered me were the flies on the pastries.. some of them were covered with cling wrap, but others weren’t..while ordering I could literally see the flies hovering on the pastries. Unfortunate, because I was honestly really looking forward to spending some time there. And I really did love my drink, the decor, the service, and a slice of cake I had that was cling wrapped thankfully. I hate leaving not-good reviews, but i was disappointed:
