Pool table was great and the jukebox was fun. There were a lot of tables so you don’t have to wait long. The bartender on was very confused and inattentive. We asked for a table and ordered a round of drinks. We were told it would be 5 minutes and to wait. 15 minutes later I saw him giving balls to someone else. He never came back to say we could get on and play some pool. Once I went back and asked what was going on I was given balls and when I asked what table we were at I was told, “the only one open.” So we started playing on the only open table, and it was the pay per play table! We had to wait as the balls were fished out and sorted to get back playing where we were supposed to be. When I payed the bill I was over charged for the table and told I was at a different numbered table than we had been on, playing for an hour more than we’d been there. It was still a fun night though and the pool of it all was fantastic. Fun night out!
I've been hitting up this spot for years. It's one of the best spots to shoot some pool and have a beer or two. Service is always good and seems to have improved since the last time I went. They make sure the areas are clean and ready for the next group to play. The bathroom could use a make up and some air freshener but expectations are low for a bar bathroom.
Popped into Fats on the first night of a recent trip with a group of friends. We ended up stopping through each night to grab a few drinks, shoot pool and watch some hockey/football. Trina and Clay were very helpful, attentive and provided my group with various places to visit while we were in Montreal. It was a laid back and casual vibe, and we had great times with the crowd and staff during our visits.
A great neighbourhood pool hall / bar located in the heart of downtown Montréal near Concordia university. Very decent prices and friendly staff. The private pool room is a great option for small groups to celebrate birthdays and special events.
Decent billard place, but no special cocktails and the music isn't always for everyone lots of heavy metal. That being said, there's a great private room for groups like a birthday party for 25$/hour. It's definetly more expensive than a regular pool table, but the privacy is worth it imo and you can choose your own music. I reserved it when I went with my gf for a date.
Billard places are fine, but we have to pay dollars for each game. Price of beer and cocktails is reasonable.
Always fun to play pool, lots of table available, it can get crowded but quaint and comfortable, its really cool.
A nice place in general. Nice music, quality tables, and the drinks aren't that expensive either.
I cannot overstate how much I love this establishment. Both its flaws and its qualities are irrefutably part of its charm. I ought to begin by stating that the first things you see when you step into fats are: billiards tables and slot machines. I wouldn't touch either of those with a ten foot pole and would generally avoid establishments based around these two hobies. However, should you care to, you will meet the friendliest bar staff as well as the most interesting patrons out of anywhere in this city. So, is Fat's for everyone? Ultimately, everyone is welcome, but not everyone will like it, and I hope it stays that way: a little enclave of this neighbourhood of Montreal, populated by both locals and occasional visitors, all enjoying a great time either at the bar, or at the aforementioned pool tables and slot machines.
Great place to have a game or two, with affordable hourly price and also they have a private table for a good price. Staff is welcoming and attentive. Ignore the condition of carpet for what you are paying, All in all it is a good place to play some pool and have few drinks with friends.
