I spent many days here doing remote work. The library opens a little late on certain days. The selection is suprisingly robust. theres a whole section just for graphic novels. They have a seed library. They rent out board games, DVD's, CD's and more. They have computers which are free to use. They host community events such as tea and reading time. The whole bottom floor is a kids area, with books for children of any age, and tables where I often saw children drawing or playing boardgames.
I was very pleasantly surprised with the collection of English books for kids aged 5 - 8. The staff was super helpful and polite . The kids section is super cute and the borrowing and return of books is super easy. Highly recommended
Great library. Great location. Clean and not noisy. So far no one has gone out of their way to act superior or sneer and some of the staff actually acted friendly and polite
Peaceful in the mornings but not worth it to come for long studying hours to prepare for exams. Most of the time there’s interruptions with kids passing by and the opening hours are way too short. Useful for High school students but not for adults at all...
The first thing I do when I move to a new place is to check out the public library. This library is wonderful, rather spacious for a community library, with a nice selection of English and French books and a good selection of DVD's that are pretty new. They have a lot of comics and graphic novels as well, mostly in french translation. The cultural center next door has frequent events, concerts, art displays etc that are free. And the staff is extremely helpful, they will track anything down for you and reserve it if they don't have it.
I am surprised that I never reviewed this library and not sure why I never went to it before I had children. It is amazing to see how libraries have evolved since I was young, you can get a lot more than books and there are a lot of activities all year round. One great part is that with a membership at one Montreal library you get access to them all and can reserve books online that are sent to the library of your choice for pickup. The self checkout, online renewals and allotment of up to 40 items are all excellent. They also have DVDs, board game to play on site, computers and magazines. I much prefer to read my magazine on paper versus on my phone, although books I prefer to read on an e-reader and sadly there is no Kindle support in Canada making me lean towards a Kobo for my next e-reader. With your membership you can also rent audio books through an app. Now I come all the time and my kid loves all the variety of books we have.
It’s small but good customer service and a good collection of littérature and intellect books.
It's very dim inside, few outlets for use, poor internet connection since they switched to "WifiMtl". The service is so-so. Sometimes the librarians are nice and helpful, other times you can't find the one on your floor and when you ask the one on the next floor down, that one gets annoyed. The computers used to look up books is on the second floor, which is counter-intuitive; it should be on the first floor near the entrance.
I love this small library. Great architecture, helpful staff, good vibes in general! Nice expos in the art gallery as well. I order books and dvds via the internet site and pick it up there.
A much needed presence! Excellent idea. Wealth of the cdn population. The piano is extra. Popular players stop & play. A montreal scene to be heard and viewed. Enjoyable. Puts a pep into one's existence. Bravo for the initiative!
