Service was good. Pasta was quite acidic. Strongly tasted of vinegar. The potions were large and extremely hot. Also, the decor was drab and shabby.
waitress was nice. kitchen had a few challenges. decor could use a refresh, but would probably stop by again if i lived closer.
Best food I've ever had. We go as often as possible. The staff is always friendly and accomodating too!!
The food was excellent and wasn't badly priced. Was happy with the service and and the variety of Italian food. I will definitely go back again.
Good food at good prices, if you get a meal they give you a whole loaf of bread with it, but ask if you want garlic bread because its just plain bread. Got a large lasagna that was only one smallish piece, the fontanas in Bellevue would give you an entire lasagna for the same price, not sure if that's normal or just a miscommunication with our order other than that it all tasted good
Had heard great things about the food, however our experience was not great. Food was served one dish at a time to the table so we got to watch each other eat instead of eating together. Some of the noodles had a burned taste to them, as well as the sauce having a tin can taste. The salads were full of water at the bottom. We paid with a card, and were huffed at by the waitress when we didn't leave a tip on the card. We left cash on the table instead but that is besides the point there. May try again another time but not anytime soon.
So we entered Fontanas like any other day wanting to relax for a nice meal. The waitress comes over and we all order our drinks and we get those. After a while she took our orders. We had to wait like 45 minutes to get our food and they delivered a basket of bread, The bread was the only good food we ate. After we all ate almost a loaf of bread we noticed the bug problem. At least 8 flies were buzzing around our table and I'm pretty sure one went up my nose. Eventually we got our food. My dad got the Cacciatori and it was disgusting. It looked like they just put marinara sauce on noodles. My mother got Italian wedding soup as an "entree" and it was also terrible. It came in a very small portion and looked awful. The meat in it was sour and believed to be rotten. I wanted to order the pizza but they were out of dough, so I ended up getting a ham and cheese sub. The tomatoes on it were just baby tomatoes sliced in half. Some of them with black seeds and the stem part of them. The sub had like 2 slices of ham and some lettuce. And all through the meal we had nats and flies buzzing in our faces. If Gordon Ramsay came here for an episode of kitchen nightmares he would most likely shut it down in a second. The sausage in the cacciatori was hard and gross. The sausage in the italian wedding soup was hard and chewy. And there were no mushrooms in the cacciatori. The place would survive a health inspection since they'd have time to prepare but would not survive a visit by the man who does bar rescue if he saw them cooking. The place was so much better when Mr. Fontana ran it. Now its ran by one girl who looks like shes still in school and what looked like one cook. Mr. Fontana would be rolling in his grave.
I really enjoyed this little place. The food was great and the marinara sauce was excellent! We had a large party and they handled it well. One member of our party ordered the small Calzone, and another the small Stromboli... And they were huge. If you're near Clyde, Ohio, try Fontana's!
Delicious food for our first visit there. Homemade sauce, awesome pasta, meatballs..bread was warm and super soft with wonderfully toasted crust, great service...definitely can't wait for a return visit!!!!
