These are best rice rolls I've had in Richmond. The beef, scallop, and shrimp is my favorite. I like that they give you extra sauce. The hong Kong coffee is very good too. I tried the spring rolls and while they were good, it was nothing outstanding. The service was quick and the food came out pretty fast. The seating is a little tight, but it's clean. Prices are reasonable. I would definitely return.
Congee/Noodle fast food restaurant with food that you don't often find elsewhere. Have you tried "Pig Knuckle Rice Rolls ?" Huh? I said to myself. Curiosity kicks in. LOL! see picture. That's not what I was expecting. I was expecting boneless pig knuckles wrapped with rice rolls, but instead, I got Pig Knuckles with Bones ON Rice Rolls. Haha! Nevertheless, it was delicious. Boneless would be much better but still highly recommended. I ordered the "Beef Offal and Radish Noodle ". Damn, it was delicious. Lots of cow innards, including some things I weren't expecting...cow lungs and cow small intestines . You don't often see these two ingredients even in Hong Kong noodle restaurants. Lots of noodles and lots of sauce. Love noodles flooded in thick sauce! However, the innards feel soft but very chewy. You've been warned. Again, despite it chewy, wife and I actually enjoy it. BTW, where the hell's my radish!?! Wife ordered "Assorted Meat Congee ". 1 Half an hour past, we enquired about it. The waitress said, "We didn't forget." Oh really?! When the congee finally arrived moments later, the waitress apologized profusely and offered wife a drink free of charge. 2 Obviously, it was forgotten 'cause everything was so overcooked they were inedible. But the worst is 3 Not much meat in the congee. That's 10 bucks, baby! YOU'VE BEEN WARNED! If it wasn't because of the not-much-ingredient congee, we would have given it 5-stars. Nonetheless, it's still a highly recommended restaurant. Like Arnold said, "Hasta La Vista, Baby....I'll be back!" PS. Coffee here sucks. The horrible Hong Kong cafe coffee. Even in Hong Kong, every restaurant has already switched to ground coffee . Only these Richmond BC restaurants they still stayed in the Triassic Period with their instant coffee. Good thing it comes free with the order. Order something else!
Soul warming comfort food for those who miss Cantonese HK-style “Congee Noodle House” diner fare. Cantonese and Mandarin speaking staff. Portions are decent and it’s easy to over order when wanting to try everything; but I wouldn’t say the menu is inexpensive. Clean dining area. Service is as expected in a “fast food style” congee/noodle restaurant. The rice rolls were the best thing we ate, and I liked that the soy sauce was warmed up. I would visit again. Parking: Plenty of free parking in front of the restaurant located in a strip mall walking distance from Aberdeen Centre Kid-friendliness: Kid friendly atmosphere and menu as in most small Asian restaurants
[Note:] they only accept debit or cash. [Parking:] good amount of parking We only had their pineapple bun with butter. The pineapple bun was nice and warm with a think crust top. The huge chunk of butter compliments it well. It adds the perfect amount of creamyness and salt to the dessert bun. The bun was warmed up in microwave. I liked that they iced the butter so that we can take to go.
I like that the rice rolls are thin, but the way that they make it is simple laziness at it’s finest. I’ve eaten chives my whole life and the shrimp with chives dish really should not look or taste the way that they cooked it. The congee had a super fishy taste to it, the century egg was not cooked properly either. I saw them visibly go microwave my egg tarts and brought it straight to me from the microwave with the dough still raw… the only saving grace for this restaurant is that again, the texture of the rice noodles are good. I would not recommend anything else from here and I usually give a lot of leeway to Chinese restaurants because I grew up used to their service and the quality of food. But this is on another level.
One thing impressed me was the soy sauce for the rice roll was warm. That's very thoughtful and the sauce taste good too. The rice roll is ok. The congee was average in Vancouver standard. The service was so so. The clay pot over rice was interesting but we didn't order it, they accidentally put it in front of us and smell really good. The pineapple bun was ok. The milk tea is average.
Very decent rice rolls! Average around $9-10/dish the fillings are topped above the these wrinkly rolls. I had imagined they were stuffed inside. The ingredients are definitely more than expected. Even if hungry, don’t get more than 2 rolls if you don’t want to take any home. One good thing about this place is while other places have a long wait time, this place you can sit down right away. Dishes all come very fast so turnaround is immediate.
Always nice! Authentic rice rolls and clay pot rice! The congee is flavourful and smooth. Service is homey and warm, especially if you speak Cantonese. P1 Tired the clear rice roll for the first time and would definitely go back! Opens early as well, perfect place to take parents!
The food quality and taste went downhills. It used to be very good, but not any more. My wife I and visit this location for beef and shrimp rice rolls. The food quality was very poor, all three rice rolls glued together and hard to separate. The beef and shrimp sizes were so small. The food tasted like home made. The service was poor. The cashier said they would accept cash only. When we checked out, we gave them all the cash that we have, but the cashier insisted for more tips. We were surprised to hear that she would accept credit card for the tips. We would NEVER come back again for home made type of food with plain flavour.
I like that this place opens early. A place to entertain my niece she loves the Chinese donut and congee here. Rice rolls are good too but they’re not like the rice rolls you usually get at dim sum restaurants. Service is decent. They only have one server most of the time and there’s also lots of pick up orders. Cash only. Before 11am they have a rice roll and congee combo that’s $12 if I remember correctly.
