Story

Incorporated in 1958 by Stu Berry and Ted Smith, Berry & Smith Trucking Ltd., based out of Penticton, BC, began with two trucks, hauling fruit - the major emphasis was customer service. The Berry family acquired sole proprietorship in 1970 and attributes the success of the company to their continued emphasis on both customer service and their dedicated team of drivers and support personnel.

Berry & Smith Trucking Ltd boasts a full 48 state and Canadian authority, over 180 employees, and a substantial, in-house truck maintenance facility. Berry & Smith’s head office is located in Penticton B.C., with regional trucking offices in Calgary, AB and Vancouver, BC. The H.O. location includes loading docks, reload services, an 85,000 lb container lift, in-house truck maintenance facilities and 5 acres of fenced compound, secured with modern surveillance equipment. Their Calgary and Vancouver locals lay claim to similar secure compounds.

The company branched out into other areas of transportation with the acquisition of the Penticton school bus contract in 1964. The Penticton transit bus contract was added in 1977.
