They have a large selection of sushi but the menu paper feels really cheap. It's bright orange and tattered. The food is good, the aesthetic is 90s trying to be fancy. The staff is kind and attentive. Worth checking out, prices are 10% higher than they should be.
Definitely the best sushi I’ve had anywhere around the West Michigan area! Equipped with an extensive menu that easily caters to anyone, Beema Okaasan offers both quantity and quality. I was most impressed with the intricate layering of flavors within their rolls, perfectly balanced to create an unforgettable and unique combination. The sushi rolls did an outstanding job letting the ingredients shine without any single component becoming overpowering. Undeniably impressive, this hidden sushi-lovers paradise easily surpasses its more popular counterparts located more centrally in the city. Friendly staff, an upscale cozy atmosphere, and unbelievably good sushi make Beema Okaasan a restaurant destination even worth going out of your way for.
Such a cute and quaint restaurant. I love the creativity in the special rolls and their menu is different compared to other sushi restaurants. The atmosphere is calm and relaxing. I believe the roll I got was "a star was born". The place is pricey, but I will most certainly visit again in the future.
Wow wow wow the absolute best sushi in Grand Rapids! Staff is very friendly, food is phenomenal tasting and super fresh! On the plus side everything is Halal!! Prices are super reasonable too!
Wow! I am so happy to have found THE BEST SUSHI PLACE in Grand Rapids Michigan! Photos don’t do justice also not the best lighting setting but I promise you, it is SO YUMMY. I have been here almost every week the last couple months sometimes twice a week and am finally posting and sharing with you all! There are way too many rolls for me to write about. They are all so great depending on the style and taste you prefer. Lots of options for everyone. I suggest getting to Beema Okaasan before you’re hungry as when they are busy, it could take a little more time for them to bring your food out. And I recommend calling ahead if you have a large group. Now let’s get to FOOD: I have been starting with [Stuffed Jalapeño] and will get either the [Rock Paper Shrimp] or [Spicy Tuna On The Rocks] which both have the crispy rice bed! My #1 roll is the [Picante] where you can taste a bit of heat/spicy while tasting the sweet ponzu sauce! When they have [Otoro] which may not be all the time,, I highly suggest getting it as sashimi pieces! This melts in your mouth! My second favorite roll would be the [American Idol], you get the different fish assortment in one roll while getting to taste all of them! I love the sweet Kabayaki sauce on the bottom! For those who cannot handle the super spicy rolls above, I LOVE the [Fantasy] roll! Heavy on the crab salad side with the sauces and crunchiness goes so well together. OoOoOo [Sweet Shrimp]! I’m not much of a shrimp person, but this one is so fresh and you can eat the fried head as well. Shrimp chip! This is the only sushi place I have found in Grand Rapids who sometimes has [Uni]! It took me a month of coming to get the Uni as it was not always available. I requested Uni Hand-roll. Though perhaps next time, I should try it nigiri style when it’s fresh!
The fish at Beema is excellent. I've eaten at many amazing sushi spots in large metro areas and this was as good, if not better. Chef was a craftsman, ordered apps and a maki/sashimi chefs platter and everything was of high quality. The fish quality is top tier. Can't believe we were lucky enough to find this spot while on vacation. Would highly recommend. Parking: Easy parking right out front
Service was fast and attentive. The menu is expansive and all the rolls we got were delicious. Will definitely be back! Parking: Plenty of parking since this is in a strip mall style building. All the other businesses were closed by the time dinner time rolled around, so the parking lot was open and easy to navigate.
Such a nice experience. The sushi was amazing. The staff were friendly and welcoming. My boyfriend and I loved our time here. We live about 2 hours from this place, we were in the area, and decided to try it. We are so happy we did! If we’re in the area again, we will definitely go back.
Appetizers were good. Main course wasn’t the bestRecommended dishesStuffed Jalapeno, Crunch Roll
Amazing sushi. The creativity and flavor of the special rolls is outstanding. We enjoyed the Audi, Mama Mia THE highlight, Red Carpet and BTS Korean Bulgogi! rolls. Started with house and seaweed salads - both great. Service was excellent - no issues. Despite the quaint surroundings, definitely should be a destination for any sushi connoisseur in GR, certainly on the level of Maru which I've felt was the creme de la crop for a while.
