Super eclectic taco spot with uniquely crafted tacos, or the ingredient list allowing you to build your own. The most difficult part of eating here is trying to narrow down what you want to eat! There’s a ton of indoor and outdoor seating, and yet there’s frequently still a wait although manageable. The drinks and food were truly impressive and worth the visit.
This was my 2nd time visiting this awesome spot. These are some of the best tacos I’ve ever had. Today I tried the special tacoamong two others, which was basically a Nashville hot chicken taco with Mac and cheese. It was amazing. Also gave the sassy pineapple margarita that came highly recommended by the server and it was bomb. This is Gonna be my go to spot whenever I am in town for B-ball or Football games
Unique build your own street taco restaurant. You order with a paper checksheet were you can build your own tacos or choose from the chef specials. Large drink menu with a variety of margaritas and other specialty drinks Service was quick and the atmosphere was punk, modern. Chips and salsa come with the meal with the option for additional flavors and spice levels.
Loved this place. Make your own taco idea is amazing Plenty of options Food is cheap for a restaurant this fancy Guacamole options were unique and delicious Drinks are good as well. Order anything. Cant go wrong
This place was fantastic! The grilled cheese queso was fun to try and I loved how you ordered your tacos. The chips and salsa was delicious and the margaritas were awesome. I don't remember our waitress' name but she was great as well! I'm so glad I was able to try this place out!
We had a great time at Barrio. Fun take on tacos. They have build your own or their stable pre designed choices. Excellent quality ingredients with decent portions. The chips and salsa are great! Decent selection of draft beer. The real star is "the sassy pineapple" margarita. Phenomenal, truly. The standard one is great we also tried it with strawberry that was outstanding as well. I would recommend and would love to come back.
This place is INCREDIBLE. This is a must try if you are in the area! You get to pick and choose what you want on your tacos, or they have chef favorites if you can’t decide. Great prices! My husband and I both got 3 tacos. He did the chef pick ones and I built all of my own. They all were AMAZING. I did pulled pork, chicken and chorizo and they all were amazing. They are a good size & you get chips and salsa when you come in. I ate one taco, sampled and took the other 2 home for later. SO good! Prices are so great and the service was incredibly fast. They have indoor and outdoor seating. SO MANY gluten free options which is a must for me. Can’t recommend this place enough. Our bill was $25 but we didn’t get drinks this time. Margs looked great though!
We were in East Lansing visiting and instead of driving the one hour home to eat we opted to try out the restaurant scene. We finally decided to eat at Barrio at around 4:45 PM after having tried to eat at Crunchy’s parking only at meters and the place smelled, Black Cat Bistro and HopCat closed. We paid $3 to park at CVS and walked down to the restaurant area. Black Cat Bistro was only serving the dinner menu which felt complicated. I had eaten there before and elected to leave and on our way out we noticed the popularity of Barrio. We were seated inside and we ordered a diet drink and regular soda, chips and salsa and blanco queso. Anna, the server was friendly and shared how to order off the menus and she was also quick to bring the appetizers. The queso looked like it was steaming, but in reality it wasn’t hot, was tasteless and the cheese on top had hardened because it had cooled off. The salsa was spicy and tasty although the chips felt like they had sat at the window too long. The second batch of chips Anna brought were much better. We decided to order the shrimp tacos 4 at $5 each that were made to order, rice $1, black beans $1.5 and sour cream $1. The shrimp tacos were the size of small soft taco - almost the size of a side plate used for a bun and butter. Unfortunately, the shrimp was fishy and we both felt we might have eaten a tail - definitely something that was hard and it was not cabbage. The rice and beans were good, but they were delivered in the size of the tiny plastic cups that you’d receive if you were getting a takeaway container of salad dressing. The black beans were the best however, there were probably 20 black beans in the cup. The beans and the salsa were the best items we consumed. The total bill came to $39.22 and I was allowed to look at Anna’s handheld device to see the charges, but only allowed to look at it very briefly. I asked if she took cash or credit card and she said replied with either. I handed her $40 and wasn’t provided any change, but was thanked for the payment. I left a $7 tip in cash. I was never asked about the meal and I kept eating it somehow thinking it was going to get better, I had to ask for more drink refills. Overall, the meal was sub par from a taste, quantity and flavor perspective. Anna did provide a second basket of chips which tasted better than the first basket. Incidentally, my feet stuck to bathroom floors as they were so sticky as if they weren’t cleaned properly. If this can sum up our experience…we had food remaining, but we opted to leave it. I asked my son about his meal and he said, “I knew we ate, but I left unsatisfied” and I said, “I would have been equally happy if I got sick and threw it all up as much as I was to eat it.” We both laughed and said we learned our lesson. I know these opinions are harsh and I very rarely leave such negative reviews, but my impression was that there were many patrons enjoying this restaurant as it was very busy, but we did not have the same experience. Maybe we didn’t order the right things or it was an off night, but I was very disappointed with the food and would have been happier if I waited to eat at home.
Husband loved his tacos. They were complicated! I had the Al Pastor bowl and the shrimp tacos. The meal was satisfying and tasted good. The food was fresh. Service was just ok. We went around 3PM. The restaurant was nearly empty. They spared no expense on the spork. I'd go back just to try something different. Oh, wouldn't suggest wasting your money on the sides. Portions were laughable. OH! If you want sauces they'll cost extra.
Super busy, but excellent tacos. We had a bowl and pulled pork Travis but my favorite was the shrimp tacos. Will be back!
