Our experience with Bark Busters was excellent. Both my husband and I had great over the phone conversations with Greg when we were calling to inquire about their services. Our at home appointment with Carol was above and beyond what we had expected. She was at our place for almost 5 hours wherein she interviewed us about our concerns and issues with our dog Tsuki followed up with a presentation about Bark Buster methods of training. Finally, she had our whole family take part in practicing training with our dog. We saw a significant change in our dog's behavior just after one session. Before she left, she had made a homework plan with us. Overall, we were very satisfied with Bark Buster's service and look forward to seeing Tsuki's progress over the coming weeks.
On March 5th, 2022 we had the pleasure of working with Bark Busters in Edmonton, at our own home. Meeting Carol, and going through the educational presentation was a great heads up as to what was in store for the training session. Carol was very professional, friendly and understanding when learning about our dogs behaviors. She really wanted to get to the bottom of the problem for them both. Once the puppy training started, she took the time to work one-on-one with each of them. After we were able to get them together to do some practice runs of a few exercises, it was almost easy and a huge relief, as to how well her training method was working. We couldn't believe the huge learning curve both dogs were going through. More importantly, it showed us how essential it is to become the leader of the pack. We couldn't be happier with the progress they made that day. Now, we have the ability to monitor their training by keeping track of their successes and failures and reporting back to Carol after two weeks. It's nice that they just don't do a one time thing and leave you on your own. We really look forward to the upcoming weeks with Rey and Daegan to see how their habits change. This whole process will definitely make our lives easier, and the dogs much more responsive to commands and good behavior. Thanks so much Carol for your time and we will keep in touch!
It is hard to write a review that makes justice to the help that Carol Guy gave me. I strongly recommend Bark Busters to anyone who wishes to improve their relationship with their dogs. Carol clearly knows a lot about dog training, and during the session she explained how the human-dog relationship works from the dog's point of view. After the first hour I realized that I was doing many, many things the wrong way, and that I was inadvertently giving my dog the leadership position. In turn, this caused behaviours that were problematic, like pulling on the leash, the dog ignoring me, and the dog being reactive towards noises, people, other dogs, etc. Carol explained me how to take the leadership position back in a way that was dog friendly. She taught me how to set boundaries, establish rules, and how to communicate better with my dog. All without the need of using neither treats nor physical/aggressive methods. She taught me how to communicate with my dog in his language using both body language, and different voice tones to praise/correct. I started to see changes immediately. After communicating with my dog in 'his language' he stopped being reactive, pulling, and barking at most noises. Most importantly, he didn't lose his personality. He is the same happy dog that loves playing, going to walks, and being pet; but now he is well behaved. Whenever he wants to go back to his old ways, a timely correction with voice/leash commands gets him back to the right behaviour. I wish I had contacted them earlier my dog is 2 years old now, the past year would have been so much enjoyable and less frustrating if I had learned how to communicate better with my dog since the beginning. I think that every dog owner should learn what Bark Busters teach. Definitely the best investment that I have made for my dog.
Bark Busters is great. We have a 4 year old rescue and he had pretty bad reactivity problems. It was so bad we couldn't really have guests over. We had gone to see two other trainers before Bark Busters and didn't make much progress. However, with Barker Busters we saw huge improvement after just one session! This is not an exaggeration at all. What is great is that the training is done in your house, which makes so much more sense than going somewhere unfamiliar to your dog. They don't use treats or clickers in their methods either, its all about learning to speak dog and understand them better. For anyone considering hire their services, I would say don't hesitate and just go for it, you won't be sorry, you'll just wish you did it sooner.
This is my second dog that I have had Carol from Bark Busters come and help me with. Both dogs being Miniature Schnauzers but both with different temperaments. My first dog Oliver was a confident dominant dog. Mostly wanting to dominate me. Things were getting out of hand and I wasn't sure what to do. Bark Busters was recommended to me by a friend and I gave them a call. Greg was very reassuring that they could help with Oliver so I set up the appointment. Carol came out to see us and meet Oliver. During her interview with us she could clearly see what Oliver was all about and how to help us. She spent 3 hours with us doing different exercises with us and Oliver. By the time Carol left Oliver was listening much better and some behaviors like jumping at the counter while I prepared food never happened again. She gave us homework to do to reinforce Oliver's learning. In all, I was so thankful to have some knowledge and tools so I could work in a positive way with Oliver. Yesterday, Carol came to meet my new puppy Liesl. She is more timid than Oliver was and I wanted to be sure about the proper ways to manage her behaviours. She likes to lead on a walk, is easily distracted, likes to steal shoes and socks and likes to bark at people and dogs. Again Carol spent 3 hours working with Liesl and I. I now have a homework plan to reinforce what we need to work on, but Liesl is already responding and listening better. Can't wait to see how far we can go!!!! Thanks Carol and Greg. Bark Busters is amazing. Cannot believe the difference in Barkley. Carol gave us tips and showed us how to train him properly. We were getting frustrated with Barkley not listening or coming when called. He is doing awesome right now. Even the cats are happy. I strongly recommend using Bark Busters for any issues you have with your dog.
Carol arrived and we all suffered through 90 minutes of continuous barking while she gave her presentation. Since the training there has been nothing but peace and quiet - pure bliss. We are very happy with Bark Busters - the barking, nipping and bossing us around has stopped and it's only been 2 days in - very impressive results!!
