I would rate this hidden Jewel a 8 stars out of 5 If you are visiting or just passing by, I would highly recommend you reserve a table here for dinner, the food here is best in the province and trust me when I make mention of this as I am a Mexican cuisine true critic. Don’t take my word for it. This place has magic! My respects to the talented and attentive staff! Thank you Elle and Carlos I had a great experience at this unique Mexican restaurant
The outdoor patio was nice and clean. Food was incredibly flavourful. Margaritas were great and the Fish Tacos were the standout dish of our meal. The Beef Flautas were a perfect appetizer and the Beef Chimichangas were delicious. Would visit again.
Beautiful and charming restaurant where the decor really has character. The food is the finest we found on this island with the tacos and the soups being top notch. The pork tacos in particular are incredibly delicious to the point where I ordered another round of tacos instead of tequilas . We tried the dessert Flan and it was amazing. Definitely going back here another time before we leave the island. Last but not the least the service was excellent. Highly recommend a visit to this place.
Just went here for a family dinner. Good size group. The staff handled our orders and requests well. Professional. We all enjoyed our drinks. Especially the Pisco Sour and Tormento Violenta. Our food was tasty however note that you may find it bland if you do not add any of the sauces. The green hot sauce had some nice kick while we found the black hot sauce to be a little too smokey. The medium salsa that came with my tacos fish, chicken, beef; added the lime to all was a little mild for my taste. Would recommend if you like this style of food. Will come back again.
It’s just delicious! I’m from Mexico and the food really made me feel at home. Real Mexican food requires real Mexican chefs, so you can expect the best from this little slice of Mexico in Canada.
We got a last minute table last night and very thankful we did! The margarita was delicious and the tacos were excellent! We would definitely recommend to a friend looking for a fantastic authentic experience!

BEST FISH TACOS since i lived in Sayulita. I have eaten at most of the Mexican restaurants in Vancouver and i always order fish tacos everywhere i go and these are 100% the best authentic Baja style fish tacos i have had since living in and travelling all over Mexico for several years. The tortillas are made in house daily, the batter is perfect and crispy, the fish is fresh and moist…i want one now. The BFG is one of my favourite places to dine out anywhere. The food is made with love from a Mexican husband and wife team and other awesome cooks, it doesn’t get any better than that! You must try the flan, ceviche, margaritas, flautas….just try everything, you won’t regret it. The team is so sweet, they sincerely want you to have a great time and it feels like they are welcoming you into their home. Mexican hospitality is like no other and that’s how it feels at the BFG. I always leave feeling so happy and satisfied. Oh yeah, and it’s gorgeous. No design detail has been overlooked. The only “complaint” i could ever have is that they’re not open enough!!! How lucky are we to have this spot on the Sunshine Coast!!?!!
Such attention to detail! Fabulous ambience and the food was outstanding. So fresh and delicious. Felt like an evening in Mexico!! And immaculately clean :. We will make the trip back to Gibsons just for this little gem!!
An absolute NO GO with kids. Our mistake was to arrive there hungry. Sorry guys, next time we'll do better and bring our own snacks. We had to wait for everything including complimentary water. While local regulars received all the attention from our waitress, we had to wait: - 30 minutes to make an order - 1 hour to get kid size quesadillas and tacos - 30 minutes for the freaking BILL We came at 7 pm and left after 10 pm. It took us 30 minutes to eat. The rest time we spent waiting... Our nachos never arrived, tacos were late, had to reorder a side of FRIES TWICE: kids were mad, parents were frustrated and very dissatisfied. Absolute let down.
