Barbie's Restaurant - Dorval

I think Barbie's restaurant is what most big breakfast and lunch restaurants wish they were. It means they serve all the same things but for some reason it's just better here. They even serve some special things too. And their men your choice is humongous. The staff is like professional full-time know their stuff longtime waiters and servers. The place is always packed on weekends from breakfast through the brunch to lunch. I'm over due to go there in facts. It's hard to believe that such a huge and popular place has such a small entrance at the end of a little tiny strip mall that is so small you wouldn't even know that there's a huge restaurants inside up except you'd start to wonder where all the cars came from and where the people went unless you know about the restaurant. It's real good food and it's real good fun food done really well. No fancy highfalutin stuff but excellent good food. Some people make it a tradition to go there every weekend.

I honestly do not know how a BBQ place with such bad barbecue food gets so many good reviews. I am here on business and looked for food around my hotel after driving all day. I settled for Barbie as it was a close drive to my hotel. I will say the service was quick and friendly. But the only good food that was brought to me was the French fries. The ribs were flavourless and dry, almost as they have been recooked. The wings were smaller than my knuckle and had very little flavour, almost tasted like the frozen wings from the grocery store. For a BBQ restaurant they lacked in the selection of barbecue sauces. Your choice is hot or mild. Not very imaginative nor appetizing. I also found their beer selection was limited. Beer being a staple in barbecue, you would imagine they would have a broader selection to choose from, as least a couple local breweries. I will not be going back.

In 25 years, I never had anything but satisfaction. Had many parties with groups up to 75 people. They made me special menus with multiple choices for kids and adults. Quotes were per person and included soft drinks, coffee and desert. Service was fast, efficient and unbelievably friendly.

The breakfast is passable, but more often than not the service is horrible. The lunch/dinner menu is horribly over priced for the quality of the food. Go just about anywhere else.

Fast. Fair prices. Big portions. Varied options in the menu. Good service. Tasteful food. We had almost all meals there when in Montreal.
