We had a lot of fun here! Having never been to a Korean BBQ before, we weren’t sure how it worked. Overall, it was a blast to cook our meats and veggies ourselves and their flavors were great! There was a decent amount of sides but we had to ask for more. Super unique and a bit more exciting than the typical restaurant. There’s definitely a technique to it and I think we’ll be better at it on our next approach.
Let me tell you a story about the owner of this establishment. Back in the day during the height of the pandemic, this Korean man was the last man standing, he took orders, cooked, and then packaged all by himself. The wait was a little bit long but the food was good and I am happy to see he has a full staff working and business is doing well.
How do I even explain the experiences I have had here… I have come to eat at BAPS many times, and can confidently say I have tried almost every item on the menu. I eat here often! Everything is FANTASTIC! Soups, entrees, appetizers, hotpot’s and BBQ are so tasteful, and fill you up with great portions! I recommend this restaurant to everyone! The atmosphere is amazing, and the staff is very helpful when explaining how Korean food is traditionally prepared and eaten. I highly recommend the Soft Tofu Stew with Pork, Kyochon chicken and the Dolsot bibimbap with beef!! Also trying the Korean bbq is a must!!
We wandered in here looking to try something new, and definitely have a new favorite! The Korean bbq was absolutely phenomenal and a fun experience ! Kendra, our server, was great at explaining things and gave great recommendations! I already can’t wait to come back!!
Had a fantastic meal, and excellent service by our waitress, despite her being shorthanded and running all the tables. She was still able to give some of my friends an introduction on Korean BBQ, so absolutely impressed, and hope I get her again at my next visit!Food: 5/5
We ordered a tonnnn of food. The kimbap was really tasty and I like the rice they used. It's not something I was familiar with in this setting but it worked! The Korean fried chicken was really tasty but I did find one that wasn't thoroughly cooked all they way. The cuts of pork belly were pretty lean. Would have loved a bit more fat on them! And I wish we didn't have to use the parchment paper on the grill. I feel like it loses the chance of getting the meats to be crispy, but I do understand that it helps the clean up process. Definitely still a great place to go to considering it's one of the few in the area and our waitress was really sweet.
I could tell this spot was authentic Korean by the bbq smells, boiling stews and sizzling meat platters wafting in the air. We came here with our nephew who's attending MSU and it was his first Korean food experience. He got the spicy chicken and ate the entire platter AND his rice! This guy is a picky eater, so I was really impressed that he ate it all. He even tried all the banchan and didn't care for the kimchi LOL. It's a little pricey for a college kid to eat at regularly, but when we're visiting MSU we will definitely be back here again to try their bbq!
My favorite meal I've had in years! I had the ox bone soup and the seafood pancake, and both were phenomenal. I loved the simplicity of the soup, which was both comforting and nourishing on such a rainy day. The seafood pancake made amazing leftovers and did not skimp on the octopus! It was so good!. Neither were too salty or greasy at all. I cannot emphasize how much I loved eating here. I will be back!
I just came here for dinner with a few friends. I wasn't sure what to expect, but I was definitely impressed! There were so many sides that came with the meats we ordered, and the servers visited us often for refills. The overall vibe of the restaurant is nice and classy. Definitely coming back for the beef brisket!
We've been here a couple of times now, and we like it. The actual bbq meats are super expensive for what you get, but they do taste good and come with a variety of fun little pickled or fermented sides. The real winners, though, in my opinion, are the soups. Just the right level of spiciness, just the right amount of funkiness, and oh so tasty. A goodly sized portion, too. We also really enjoyed the garlic chicken wings. They were pricy, but worth it. Will likely go back if just for soup. One thing I don't like, though, is that I always seem to have an empty glass. The servers don't check on you much outside of ordering and bringing your food.
