BAnQ Grande Bibliothèque

Great experience. No one looking over your shoulder. Beautiful building. Lots of levels including access to Berri-Uquam metro. Printing is 20 cents a page. To get a library card you need to bring photo ID and proof of address like a current hydro bill. Lots of nice little places to sit. I would call this library calm & peaceful but not dull cause there is a lot of shine to it. Elevators are very accessible. I do like this library & you probably will too. Hours 9AM to 9 PM Tuesday to Friday. 9to5 Saturday & Sunday. Closed Monday. Very world class,IMO.

It is a nice library. Had lots of reads,an auditorium, cafe, video games and an interesting design. But it is a bit dull compared to other libraries I've been to around the world.nGreat place to work, meet and read though.

I loved everything about it. The service to give me my library card was super fast. The fact that you can self check books to take home without having to wait.. How calm it is. Basically it's great! Highly recommend it

I recommend Grande Bibliothèque de BAnQ for its modern, inviting space with plenty of seating and study desks. It also houses a great collection of French BD bandes dessinées, making it a perfect spot for both studying and exploring comics. The atmosphere is welcoming and the facilities are well-maintained, making it an excellent choice for anyone looking for a conducive environment for learning and discovery.

Beautiful library, lots of lighting, beautiful architecture, huge selection of items. You can even borrow blu-ray movies, DVD, games and they have a decent collection! You can borrow items for 21 days at a time and take out 10 I think in each category, 40 items in total which is a lot. There is also a music listening room with vinyls, I think you can borrow items there as well.nnTables all over but it gets rather busy so I'd suggest arriving around 9-10am. Comfortable desks too, has a slight angle to it and slight angle footrest too at the base. Airy and light, though can be noisy depending where you sit so bring some headphones. Bright and inspiring.nnPeople come here to study, play board games there are puzzles and board games you can borrow. There are some homeless people that do come in sometimes seeking shelter, sometimes they can be a little disruptive with smell and being loud.nnStaff here is super nice, I think they are well treated as employees at least I hope so because it shows with how kind they are and seem to really enjoy their job.nnMy only complaint is the HOLD system can be quite slow, after placing a hold on an item that is available, it can take up to 5 business days for you to get a notification that it’s ready. One other time, by the time I went to the library I just found it on the shelf still available and checked it out, I think because I placed it on hold I was able to do so.
