Story

In 1967, the Avalon Mall opened its doors and grew to become the largest, most noted shopping centre in Newfoundland & Labrador. Known to Newfoundlanders and Labradorians as "The Mall", Avalon Mall's recognition and selection of retailers has made it "THE" shopping destination in the province.

This mall has changed over the years but its still great. Very busy place at and around holidays they has Santa Clause there for Christmas and Easter Bunny there for Easter for your child's or Children's pictures. The Mall has great food court with different food restraints and also a Movie theatre as well. For whatever you need you may find it at the Avalon mall

The food court has a decent selection of foods from some Chinese restaurants to your run of the mill Tim Horton's. The store variety is also fairly good with a few jewelry stores, specialty shops, clothing ( womens and men) and more. The movie theatre is also a great addition.

There are some very rude security guards working in this mall. One came up to my cousin, who was waiting for me, telling her she wasn't supposed to be there because she was banned. The reason she was banned was because she put in a complaint about another security guard that had been harassing her for several months. When she pointed this out to the security guard that said she was banned, he said that she shouldn't have put in the complaint, then, when she asked for his name, he snapped at her and said he wouldn't be telling her his name (first name only). I saw him snap at her (I came in the mall then; I was picking her up from a dental appointment) and when I asked him what was the issue he walked away and told her not to come back! I can't believe this is the way your security guards treat customers - even if she had done something wrong (putting in a complaint against someone is not wrong!) there is no justification for snapping at someone! The behaviour of the security guards at the Avalon Mall made me decide not to do my Christmas Shopping there this year and I am, in a way, thankful because I am saving money by going elsewhere to buy my gifts! I advise the Avalon Mall's Management to look at their security guards and either inform them that their behavior is unacceptable or fire those that are behaving inappropriately - if I was the boss for the security guard that snapped at my cousin (even if she wasn't my cousin) I would fire him since there is no justification to snap at someone!

The mall is your typical shopping centre mall. It's nothing spectacular, the average mall stores are located inside. The movie theater is a nice bonus. The parking is HORRENDOUS!!!! NO MATTER WHAT TIME YOU GO! I've never experienced such chaos in a parking lot. There's just not nearly enough spaces to accommodate the amount of people using the facility. A better layout and additional parking is DESPERATELY needed!!

All around good place to go to a movie, have a quick meal, pick up a few needed clothing or small houseware items, get a haircut, make travel arrangements, or visit the dentist! Note there is no grocery store at this location and some parts of the building are currently under renovations. Parking is free. Many metrobuses (public transportation) stop here as well.
