Auberge Montebello

Auberge Montebello is a prime example of how not to run a hotel. It’s not worth the price or even a star rating. If I could give it a negative rating, I would. The place is very basic and definitely needs renovation. The owner at the reception is extremely unfriendly and rude.nWhat really shocked me was the quality of the breakfast. It’s so poor that even a cheap motel offers a better breakfast. The business owner seems either greedy or unqualified, unable to provide a basic breakfast for guests. And they really qualify as 3 star hotel?nThere are boiled eggs kept in the refrigerator for who knows how long, tasteless waffles, a few kinds of breadnand cheap coffee. That’s it—no warm food at all. The bread and bagels are the cheapest ones and are placed on the serving table in plastic bags, just like from the grocery store. It’s okay to keep bread like this at home, but it’s unacceptable for a hotel. Can’t you put it on a tray or in a special container like other hotels do? Even cheap motels do a better job in this regard. The way butter is served is just horrible. I’ve never seen anything like this at any other hotel. It’s in a big container about 2 pounds of butter placed on an ice pack, and every guest has to scrape some butter from that container. It’s probably “too expensive” for the hotel owner to provide butter in small individual containers. I will never come back to this place! What a shame!

Room was not bad but the front desk personnel was terribly unfriendly… We didn’t feel welcome to stick around and enjoy the totally empty pool after we checked out. Which most hotels would do, especially when you only stayed 1 night and arrived after 5PM to check in. The pool was the main reason why we chose that hotel. The receptionist even told us : “so you leave now”… Ot was only 3PM on a heating day… If you didn’t want us to come back and leave you a bad review, you nailed it !

Great service and very friendly. I think it is family owned. You can feel the welcome.

Straight out of a horror movie. If you want to stay at a haunted house from the 1950’s you’ve come to the right place. As soon as we got into our room, my child asked if it was haunted. It doesn’t help that the decor comes straight out of the Shining, complete with a gold sphinx. Fear not, it will not ask you riddles.nnThe bed spread had “bullet holes” and the white sheets were covered in mystery hair. Otherwise the place was relatively clean.nnThe included breakfast was hard boiled eggs an assortment of Wonder bread and off brand Jiff peanut butter and jam. A waffle station with not real maple syrup. This place was run by professional cost cutters. If frugal was a sport, the owners of this establishment would win first place.nnThe town is absolutely beautiful and charming, try to find another establishment to stay at or even try camping. Definitely not worth $220 plus taxes that we paid.nnI did not sleep all night and waited until morning to get the F out of there. This place will live on in our memories as the creepy haunted house.

Overnight stay just prior to Christmas. This is a lovely guesthouse with charm and character. The rooms are clean and comfortable and the host provided great service. Continental breakfast was great. I would highly recommend.
